Hmm ...the X type always struggled because of its Mondeo underpinnings - the replacement shares no underpinnings with the Mondeo- it just looks like one with an Audi rear end. i think the last 2 years of JLR launches have been stunning - but not this one for me.
 
I quite like the look of that, but have to say that first photo rear quarter looks very 3 series like.
 
I know what you mean about the rear,but thats still a pretty nice looking car..

I want an F type when i can afford one..................2030 i would estimate.. :(
 
it is nice looking- but dor me just unfortunate that it looks quite a lot like the 2015 Mondeo

I live in the UK so why the hell do I have to look at pictures of LHD vehicles from Jaguar...... :x
 
Uninspiring. Looks like they just pinned all the current saloons on a board and stole a bit from each. I see a7 sportback and 3 series. The result is a tarted up Mondeo.
 
Apparently it's all-aluminium so kerb weight expected to be low. Service intervals are 21k miles for the 2-litre diesel and it emits 99g/km CO2 so likely to become ubiquitous fairly quickly because the company car lists will be full of them.

It neither offends nor excites me.

Let's see what the first drive reviews are like.
 
My mrs always thinks of the mondeo whenever she sees a XF so it isn't a surprise that this is similar, I really want jag to do well with this because I think its good that the punter has a viable alternative to the German marques and its a bonus that its British, just a shame for me that much like the 3 series the sales will be dominated by the 4 pot diesel engine but that's because in my head its still 20 years ago when owners enjoyed running bigger engined petrols and didn't just chase great MPG/emissions and actually wanted a refined/smooth and quiet engine because I am yet to experience a 4 pot diesel that has these qualities.
 
That's a 3 series, a Volvo and an Audi all cobbled together.
Fron't is a jag but not sure about the rest...

hmm.... don't know if I like that or not.
 
Nondescript - doesn't do it for me I'm afraid. Looks like a Volvo to me and those rear lights really bring it down.

Now their large XJ saloon in a dark colour - yes please!

All modern diesels and most other blown stuff is on a 20k+ service interval these days. Probably because they know the turbo will s**t its guts into the engine killing it long before poor service scheduling has any effect.
