hello fellow Z4 owners as a recently new member i wanted to see what people would suggest as cool mods to my silver 3.0 2003.

Im looking for a hardtop......

Id love to have a play with the engine ............

but as i have already had some great advice off a few of u already i thought id open it up to you to throw ideas at me..............

any suggestions welcome.

Dean .... Droitwich Worcs

ps any clubs locally ?

Hi and welcome, have you got cruise control if not your car is pre-wired so all you need is the CC switch £60.50 from your local dealer, and a dremmel too do the cut out on lower steering cowling. Did mine just recently so easy to do.

oh yeah i have....................... but thanks mate. There are some pretty cool and pretty easy mods to do actually arent there.

any engine or body mods u know of ?

PS ur car looks great in red.

Welcome :bag:

Stubby aerial.
Removing the foam from the Sound Generator.
Debadging.
Black Grilles.
MFSW (steering wheel controls).
iPod installation.

Just search on the above and you'll get a detailed explanation and How-To. Exterior mods are to taste (black grilles for example). A lot of things involving the electronics is made easier due to BMW prewiring a lot of options on the earlier models even i they weren't fitted to the car (MFSW, Cruise Control, CD Changer etc).

Engine mods on the Z4 are virtually non-existent. Remaps don't really do anything.

Get yourself some non-runflats if you haven't done that yet.

What you want to mod depends on the spec you have, your ability, size of wallet and what you want to achieve. The list is almost endless

You can't get much more out of BMW engine in a cost effective manner so unless you supercharge it your just tinkering.

non RFT tyres
change front bumper cover
rear light change
clear headlights
clear third brake light
MFSW (paddles too if auto)
CF badges (or none)
sport seats
aero sideskirts
Sat Nav
Bluetooth
exhaust system
Cruise control
audio upgrades
e46 brakes and aftermarket pads

and on and on...

If you're bored CJ, can you put an estimated cost of each one of those mods please? i.e. Stubby £6

Thanks! :D

Your car is same as mine i have done a few cheap mods just to clean the look of the car.

De Badged
Carbon look rear plate surround no need for screws holding the plate on.
removed dealer sticker from rear screen
Mangowalk stubby
Clear side repeaters
Roadster solutions boot mat
bumper plugs in boot lock and door lock
Ally tax disc holder

Clear headlights and a non MF M steering wheel are next

cheers guys, Thats loads of suggestions and any others feel free to fire them across.........i might have a look at the Steering wheels controls and i'll research some of the body / exterior mods like the rear diffuser and bumper changes (plus some of the simple ones like removing the Dealer sticker !!!)

The car has Oregon Red Leather, Cruise control, Carver Stereo, 18" BBS wheels and lots of other things i probably havent found yet. It looks cool but ive always been someone that likes to play around with things, at least a bit !!!!.

One thing ive already ordered today are some non RFT's !!! they are aweful !! I went for Falken 452's as someone recommended these and i managed to get a really good price fitted. £370 all in.

seeing as you have the door open on one of those pics in your sig, alloy pedals are also an option, cj10jeeper (I think?) seemed to like his :)

oh, and not forgetting the USB 12v output everyone seems to have bought :)

Another cheap easy but worthwhile mod especially with 108s.

Painting calipers and disc centres plus fitting chrome clips

Non RFT's are a great swap. £370 for Falkens is about right now. They used to be a little cheaper earleir in the year but seem to have risen a lot of late.

Tired - Any figures I can give on projects would be almost meaningless as I source and do the conversions in a very unusual way, ofthen unique projects and not easily copied or repeated. If one interests you in particular I'll try some numbers for you.

Yep - I have ally pedals. A probably listed less and a quarter of what's been done in total.

Welcome! Great car to start with... de-badge, painted callipers, iPod hook up, lower slightly. If you have the skills... carbon defuser - very excited when I saw that... very disappointed when I found out it was for the face lift model.

Take some time to browse, you can learn from others mis-adventures!

Some great projects on here as well! Lots of ideas.

I saw this neat looking Z4 at Silverstone 2 weeks back. Carbon diffuser and quad exhausts - I guess anythings possible

I was thinking of citing that car as an example, was worried the unsolicited attention may embarrass the owner

Sweet Zed
