New iPad

Mate it's a big change to the 1, you'll notice it in an instant. Little more stylish, new op system pretty good too if you've not upgraded already......

Well we have purchased one today. On it at the minute and gotta say it's a cracking piece of kit.

On it now as well....how sad are we.

I'm selling the one I got for the mrs..white 16gb wi if. Unwrapped.....

Sigh, was in Comet yesterday looking at 3.5mm audio jack cable for my wife's car iPod and noticed that they had in stock. So walked in looking for a few quid cable and walked out with a new 32gb iPad!

Wouldn't be so bad but we already have an iPad 2 (officially the wife's) and must say when you compare side by side the screen on the new one is amazing. Do a fair bit of photography so is well wort it for me

Not so bad as also got 10% off via an SMS voucher that I can get from our work rewards website.

Ysee I don't see the difference...maybe in photography work etc, but browsing and Pages/Numbers, it's all the same....even on the movies, not much difference.

Once thing I am really really pissed off at...the told me iTunes would push my movies I had bought on iTunes to my new device, but it doesn't. It does in the US, but here for now it's just music and TV shows.....so 12 films I have downloaded recently and not backed up to my PowerBook, have gone, until iTunes decide to allow this facili over here.

I took back the mrs iPad, as I think her iPad 2 is perfect for what she uses it for.....

I picked mine up yesterday first iPad I have had very impressed so far the quality of the screen is excellent.

Not long had my ipad2 so certainly not going out to pay out more money. It's never ending!

Love the ipad2 tho so the new one is bound to be good but I'm not spending any more money on one at the moment.

Carol you're fine with the iPad 2, it's great...and I also think in hindsight, the 2 is a better machine and far more better value for money

I picked mine up this morning from the TNT depot, and first impressions (compared to my original iPad 1) are that it's lighter, brighter, sharper, and definitely faster (especially at rendering web pages).

Even simply launching apps is much quicker.

Migration took all of 5 minutes - and then I realised it only copied over apps & settings, but non of my music/video/ebooks!!!

Currently got it sitting in my old Apple case until my new origami-type (i.e. multi-folding) one arrives.

I always do a 'leapfrog' upgrade process every 18-36 months, so I'm not forever buying every little upgrade for no discernible gain. I'm a fan, not a fanboi!

I'm impressed with those shopping skills! Go in for a £1 adapter, come out with £4 or £500 worth of hi-tech gadgetry.

Proper man shopping buying on instinct  It didn't involve going round each shop trying every tablet, then re circulating to check the prices, before going back to the first shop to buy the iPad.

Well done sir! I salute you :)

Have to say I am happy with my iPad 2... I ordered it a week after it was launched, similar to the story above i think I was looking for speakers for my ipod, then ended up spending £650 on a 64gb wifi/3g iPad  it is practically surgically attached to me, I love it

Don't need a better screen, but I'd like the screen to cover the whole of the pad, and for it to be lighter still. With hindsight I probably didn't need 64gb... At the rate I have been going it will take me another 3 years to fill the bugger up :P

I guess I'll wait for the next iteration...

I have the Ipad 1 and my Missus just bought the ipad 3 - personally don't see a huge amount of difference.

I mean when you launch an app ipad 1 takes 2 secs, and ipad 3 takes 1 sec. When you enlarge a photo ipad1 gets a little pixelated but its not a big deal, within apps I don't actually notice much speed difference except some racing games.

If I was to buy the ipad 3 I would want it to offer something new, eg multitasking where you could have 2 apps open side by side and use both (like emails and safari on a split screen) - it just seems to me like bringing out a face-lift model, but nothing new or innovative...

EDIT: I do love that smart case tho, makes the ipad even more convenient 8)

Well, took the plunge today, mainly cause I know my husband will enjoy my hand-me-down (iPad 2) :D Looking forward to seeing the new display.

Not much different on normal work like Internet etc....different on pics and art work etc

Siri on emails and letters is amazing!!

I have the new one, the wife has the iPad2. No need to upgrade.
Plus I'm posting on the new one in Joburg right nowno difference.....

Love it! Officially Mrs Glaikit's huh! Bet the new iPad model came along and you forgot about iPad 2 in an instant! :telloff:

Ok, just got it. There's no way it's worth the upgrade from the iPad 2 for me, although I do love the crispness of the screen. The gallery section of the forum never looked so good! I mainly got it so my hubby could use my old one.

The dictation feature seems to work pretty well - I typed most of this post with it, so hopefully that will be useful for me.

I used a work colleagues one the other day..... the screen is absolutely gorgeous... especially using VLC with HD content.

However aside from that i couldnt see any benefit to it over my ipad2.

What the point of the improved rear camera? and still the crappy front facing one?

Personally i would have dropped the rear camera, put the same optics in the front one - for skype and facetime, and then made it thinner.
