New Intravee connected - how to get cable through to cubby?

So my Intravee arrived a couple of days ago and this evening I've just hooked it up to my Z4MC to check everything's working.

Getting the boot carpet out was really easy, as was unplugging the cables from the existing CD changer. I thought I was going to have to fumble around blind for these and didn't realise they were visible and just waiting to be unplugged! :D Also not sure why everyone seems to say they are too short?

But anyway, I planned to keep the Intravee and KCA-420i behind the boot carper and have the iPod in the top shelf of the cubby between the seats (Nav and changer are in the middle and bottom section) but I can't see an easy way of getting the cable to it from the boot without just drilling a small hole in the back of the top shelf and poking the cable down. Is that my best plan?

Thanks all.

Thats what I did but I did have the centre console out at the time which made it slightly easier, and used the bottom shelf as havent got CD Changer. It's still ruddy difficult wiring in the intravee if you have it in the cubby hole though, as the wires are not very long. Cant see how you could put it on the top shelf because of this. Andy put his in the boot and just fed through the wire for the Ipod, another option.
Good Luck!

The wire length varies wildly per car. I have done 4 now, and they have been from extremely short to reasonable.

None were long enough to go to the top though, but as I understand it the Intravee is in the boot and only the iPod cable needs to go the top bit. And the iPod cable is very long.

Thanks guys - I will get the drill out. Yes you're right that the changer cables aren't long enough to get to the top shelf but I didn't see any point in putting it up there when it can easily be velcro taped behind the carpet.

Someone had the good suggestion (maybe dgm - can't remember) of plugging a serial to USB cable into the Intravee and then leaving the end of a cable within easy reach, so that means you can hide the Intravee away and still be able to update it. Seemed like the best plan to me.
