New HTC Desire HD ready to play..

Recently upgraded my phone to the HTC Desire HD with a view to using it as a navigation unit to save having to carry phone and TomTom about...

Previously had the TomTom mounted using a vent mount and will still occasionally use the TomTom (for meets etc) and I don't like windscreen suction mounts. Have a Brodit mount for the TomTom in our other and was fiddly about and realised that the brodit back plate actually quite neatly fits the TomTom ONE holder :D Solution buy the brodit holder for the phone and I can then use that in both cars...

Just thought I would share in case anyone else has similar problems - the Brodit holder back plate is the same size for all holders I believe :D

How do you find the phone generally? I was tempted to get one but a little worried about the size :?
 
not found the size to be a problem to be honest, certainly doesn't feel as big or heavy as it is...

so far (only had it just under 2 weeks) am loving it :D
 
Good job! I went for the Brodit mount in my car after much deliberation.

You'll find it a pleasure to use and the rotation of the mount is a very useful touch.
 
I've got a Nokia N8 waiting for me when I get home, might have to look into one of those holders for that.

Did you get yours from anywhere in particular or is it just a case of hitting the net and see what comes up.

the original mount came from ebay for about £3 (several years ago)...

the brodit is somewhat more expensive - the holder alone was £20.50, the mount is more but I didn't need that part for the zed. Cheapest place for the HD Brodit holder was morpeth mobiles, everyone else wanted £5-£10 more for it. I dare say there are several 'generic' holders for alot less, but brodit is custom made and designed for your specific handset :D

N8 - be interested to hear what you think of it?

So will I, I've read a few mixed reviews some bits are great some not so. The use of symbian comes in for a bit criticism but then could Nokia use anything else as they own it. Just hope I like it. I'll let you when I've had to chance to play with it.
 
That's a nice setup Gannet.

So much so you've inspired me to purchase the Brodit holder for my HTC Desire HD too. Altho I've gone for the Brodit console mount too, the idea being that I'll be able to lazily access the phone while resting my arm on the centre console 8) I just hope it works out now, I'll post pics once I have it in place.

Car Dock seems like a good little app too.
