New Hoops - Apex EC7

ITAG - I'm on the Ground Control kit, a few people have asked me to comment on my experience, which I'll do when I get a bit of time / post new year track day.

goon - these are APEX EC7, as per title of thread http://www.apexraceparts.com

pepe - not tried 19s on my car, but a lot of people suggest the 18s are the way to go, no run flats for us M people!

Hi JimmiVW, I'm thinking of getting exactly the same wheels, so thanks a lot for posting the photo! Do you have any more shots of the car from a more straight ahead angle to show the fit? Thanks a lot.

Do you reckon it would be possible to make them fit without spacers on standard suspension with slightly more front camber?

Here's my car with EC-7 wheels; tyres are MPSS 245/40 and 265/40; no spacers but a lot of negative camber on the front (around 4 degrees). Suspension is Intrax and obviously a fair bit lower than standard, though not super low.

Don't have a front on pic I'm afraid, nearest I have is this:

The only rubbing I have experienced is on track, under heavy braking, normal use has no rubbing at all. Pretty sure 235/40 on the front would eliminate it entirely. Also the time I did get rubbing was before I had the suspension setup done, and I was running a lot less camber then.

Tertius - car looks GREAT, could I ask what widths and offset you're running?
- rears look a bit more 'tucked' than mine and also looks like you're a bit lower on the rear, although that might be partially down to bigger tyre
- I'm heading to the workshop on Saturday so will try and get some better photos then!

Tertius you fiend! Now having seen them on a black car makes me want some even more. God damn it who decided presents was a good idea for christmas!

BTW - If ever you want to sell give me a shout

18x8.5 ET35 on the front and 18x10 ET25 on the rear.

I really should take some more pictures - those are from before the suspension and ride height was last done.

Also worth mentioning that my setup is really for my track wheels (same size wheels) but with R compound tyres - currently Avon ZZ-Rs, annoyingly in slightly different sizes from the MPSS.

The car or the wheels?

The wheels are really not expensive - got mine through Baan Velgen in the Netherlands, really helpful guys and delivery was only £50.

The wheels. Got a link? Would be interesting to see how they compare to some of the UK distributors!

Scrap that, found them with google.

i use a 18 x 8.5 ET 29 up front, Lots of camber needed and stiff suspension, This setup can just and i mean just brush the inner plastic liner where it meats the bumper on the most extreme of circumstances, no where near enough to run through or to even be of concern, if the liner was to be shaped correctly fro factory it wouldn't do this, mine has never sat flush on that section.

the rear i use 18 x 9.5 ET23 no rubbing at all including extreme track use, this is totally flush with the fender line, but for proper use about as far as you'd want it to go, the 10j Et 25 sits exactly the same on the outboard section.

i use semi slick tyres 235/40 and 265/35 respectively. They run 242mm at the front and 271mm at the rear so much wider than your average tyre for the same size. My ride height is very conservative on my kw clubsports.

heres how it looks.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but does anyone know what type of spoiler this is? Or know of any other ducktails?

Looks great...

Think I'm the only nutter running 9.5 with 265 35 18 all round

^ What he said, beautiful car :)

Not sure about 9.5 / 265 on front wheels though :D

Did you have to replace the steering rack?

Quite possibly... square is way more popular in the US but I can’t rememeber seeing 265s.

I think I might be the only person running 265/35/19 and 235/40/19 (active on the forum, anyway). And no, it doesn’t fit.
