Hey,

I have been on the forum for a few days now browsing around and there seems to be some good info which is great as there isn't much out there regarding these cars.

I have had nothing but bad luck regarding my Z4 I wont lie.

You guys can check out my DIY thread here: https://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=81255&page=10

Anyways, I would like to know if there are any preventative maintenance things once can do for the roof of this car to try prevent any future failures, Like greasing any of the parts or anything like that.

Here is the car:

Welcome to the forum, nice looking Z. Can't help you with your roof queries but someone will be along soon

Very stealthy photos OP - great.

Sorry I can't help with roof issues - mine is just there all of the time.

Wow, I've just read through the last couple of pages of the thread you linked to - you've put some serious work into that Z4 and it looks great
There is a good thread on this forum about the folding roof mechanism from when a member had an issue with the hall sensors (possibly), a search may turn it up, or hopefully someone will post a link.

Thanks guys.

Yea I have put a ton of work into this car to get it to where it is today I wont lie. Many many late nights in my garage getting my hands dirty and cut up.

I just got some good news from BMW regarding the turbos, they found that the one impeller was damaged so they are replacing under warranty as they lasted a whole 2 weeks! So once that is done hopefully all is good in the hood and I will finally have a problem free z4.
I am just asking about the roof as I would like to do what ever I need to do to try and prevent any future problems on that roof, when I look at all the moving parts they look very dry and clean with no form of lubrication and if there is anything I know about moving parts its that friction is a long term killer!
