I've thought about making a video showing the installation but I wasn't convinced it would actually benefit anyone, maybe I should reconsider.

That would be great if you did! I am considering getting in on this too (if still in time?) but I would like to know what installation entails first?
 
It is very easy to install. In fact the hardest job is peeling back the sticky tape that BMW use for wrapping groups of cables together. Gary's written installation instructions are spot on and as long as you take your time and identify each cable then no one should be nervous about tackling this simple installation.

Yeah the tape was the hard bit. The other thing to keep in mind is pushing the Scotchlok clips all the way, I was hesitant at first but they need to go all the way.

Man, I never noticed there was a group buy...picked up mine via regular channels a few weeks ago. That said, it was still well worth it at the price I paid...shipping to Canada was very fast, install was easy (except getting the console back in), and it works beautifully. Thanks!

I've been looking at getting one of these after my new wheels and tires but was wondering (I presume not) if there was an option for top down + windows down... For me, unless it's the very beginning or end of the top down season where it's cold it's ALWAYS top and widows down or else the top is up and windows are shut (during rain and the like).

Would be kind of a pain to go to all the trouble of installing this for convenience just to add another step of getting the windows down once I get in every time. I'm actually kind of surprised windows up is the default on this...
 
Since the windows can be put down with a single press of their own I'd say it's still far more convenient than holding the roof button.

Yeah, getting those wires pushed back up did my nut in. Funky though, innit ? I use it all the time :D

Since installation I've only ever used the interior buttons to (one-touch) put the roof up....because it's started to rain :D

I use the remote mostly. And religiously avoid looking at anyone while it's doing it's thang :lol:
