I would imagine mot is fine as it won't effect emissions, as the cat is still there doing its job

This would be correct

{"]Ok looks like mine isn't going to be done. Turns out the suspected cat problem isn't a cat problem but a manifold problem. So they've spent all their time sorting that. So good news I haven't had to fork out on cats, bad news no bypasses fitted :( But now I can do a proper before and after test though :)

Good news mate , keep us posted

sounds an interesting idea for my 3.0si, but would be great to have a better idea (video, perhaps?) of the sound differences before taking the plunge.

Vids coming soon

Wow sounds great can't wait to hear how it sounds on the 30th

Definitely interested as I want the sporty sound without the drone

I must be too old or don't understand! A louder exhaust with no discernible performance improvement to speak of, is for whose benefit exactly?
When I see a young kid <22yrs in his Saxo, Corsa or similar with the proverbial drain pipe back-box, (to simply make it louder), I, like many would think, Bless you! Or invaribly Tw@t! You’ll learn one day how ridiculous you looked and sounded, certainly regret the time and the money you spent.

Is it purely for self-gratification one would do this, or, is it as I suspect, a little bit "Corsa-Boy" to feignly impress the passer-by?
Each to their own I guess.

Oh dear Spareone, you seem to have gotten old, sensible and lost touch with your free spirit. No doubt you bleet the merits of high MPG at dinner parties and how good your garden sprinkle system is. You probably wear Merrel trainers and outdoor gear even though your going nowhere near a hill and have at least 3 ISA's.

I am of course just tickling your ribs :poke: :D

I think this looks a terrific mod, all of the benefits of a stock sound with a little rasp when your feeling a bit fruity (not like that) and all at a much cheaper cost than a full exhaust system.

Sounds like great self-gratification dont you think Spareone, but maybe not quite the best kind

Nope, still not convinced. :?

So if you bought a Ferrari, you'd rather it came with a near silent exhaust than the loud standard system? :P

I know it's abit different with a Z4, but it is still a sports car and I'd imagine the straight six could produce quite a nice exhaust note. The standard BMW system is pretty quiet (although plenty of induction noise is available with the sound generator, which I generally prefer) compared to cars like R32 Golf's which have a lovely sounding standard system, so I think a little bit of extra rasp and some slight popping on the overrun would add to the whole experience without being too over the top. :)

P.S. I've never been in a Z4M so I have no idea what the standard exhaust sounds like, could well be very nice as standard.

I take you off the list then as maybe :P

It’s an interesting point , but this not a boy racer with a Saxo and neon’s type mod , I think you have overlooked the reasons behind this.

The latest Porsche 911's and Caymans etc have a sports exhaust button that you simply press and as a result this opens a value such as a bypass pipe to increase the performance sound. Simply this is the same concept but without the facility of a flap that is operated at a touch of a button

If someone had the tec know how, to have a small motor operated flap that opened and closed these bypass pipes you could create the same system , throw in a " PawnSacrifice " style button as he did for his angle eyes you would have a wonderful optional extra!

Either way it’s no worries this is what the forum is all about, sharing ideas I shuddered to think , what you make to my LCR Splitter upgrade

As much as I see spareone's point re 'zorsts' that you could fit a cat in that are totally out of place on the back of a B-reg Renault 5, Corsa or Saxo, this appears to be a tasteful modification.

Nothing different visible, nothing showy, seems to be a controlled powerful noise that is proportionate with the car - think 911/Ferraris, they are noisy etc but in a controlled manner...

Really can't wait for the videos!!

Well chaps By-pass pipes turn up today :D

Pre Cut down etc

Cool can't wait to hear how you get on and hear the sound and review.

I'm going to do a couple of road trips this year and this could be the best solution to add a bit of excitement in the aural department without it becoming annoying after a few hundred mile. Fingers crossed anyway.

No chance of any for a 3.0i?

Yeah all you have to do is measure the back box mate , as per my very armature picture.

Then send it over to me or contact warren engineering direct and there make it up :) :thumbsup

In theory this will work with any BB

Since i'm currently looking for a subtle but yet noticeable improvement on the noise department, i'm more than interested in this little group-buy.
I'll come back to you ass soon as i a have confirmation that i can find a shop to install the tubes.

Well I'm going to collect my back box in a bit. So as long as everything has gone to plan I'll have some feedback to give. Only thing I'm concerned about is its going to seem very quite compared to the straight through on one side I've been dealing with since Saturday!! :)
