How ugly are the new f1 cars. as for calling it a shark fin it looks more like an advertising board

I like them. Proving to be considerably faster going by the first testing results today. Good to see McLaren finally getting some laps in and although late in the day the pace didn't look too bad.

Apparently the Mercedes is a cooling device to help the engine keep cool. Mercedes have packed it in so tightly compared to the other cars this extra cooling is probably needed.

The real question is for the red bulls. They have a hole in the front and it's not quite clear if this is cooling or aero.

As for the noise argument I think it's irrelevant. Yes noise is fun but seriously, it's about the racing and not noise. F1 is supposedly the forefront of engineering so to get this power out of a 1.6 is incredible. Sod the noise. I like f1 for racing and although of late it has been pedestrian, the last season had some great races and this year is already looking good.

Ferrari looking good and sounding better this year.
Still not the 80's/90's turbo era deafening roar that I miss, but still.....

I'm looking forward to seeing the change in speed. I just hope more speed doesn't equal less overtaking opportunity. Love the wider track, wider wheels and lower wider rear wing... much more aggressive. The shark fin has to go, apparently only marginal gains from these and I have already heard talk of them trying to be abolished in next years rulebook.

They look just fine to me. :D There F1 cars not paintings. The sound matters as much as the looks, but what really matters is, they're faster than other formulae and they entertain.

Almost sounding like phantom menace pod racers :)

I think the cars this year look wicked, the Haas being one of my favourites and the red bull being one of my least favourites.

I think come Australia will we actually see what these cars are actually like, I do feel a few of the big teams haven't fully shown there hands yet.

I think we all have to hope there is more mechanical grip than aero grip as that will generate far more wheel to wheel combat and overtaking. Plus i want the tyres to play less of a part, we should be watching the drivers pushing to the limit on every lap not holding back so they can get more laps out of a set of useless tyres. It is meant to be racing after all.

I'm concerned there will be less overtaking with the current cars but hopefully we will find out in a few weeks :)

That Ferrari sounds just like they did last year...like a broken drain ! Looks hideous too. I fear 2017 will be just as dull as 2016.
Roll on June 17th/18th and I will be watching the Le Mans 24 Hr. More racing, overtaking, noise, excitement and entertainment in 24hrs than in a whole season of F1! :D

I like the new tweeks, do we think the bigger tyres will cause the wheel swaps to be slower i.e. slower pit stops?
