New exhaust option soon on the market? Could be interesting

Thank's I will upload some new pictures over the weekend check it out, The S-pipe and X-pipe should not have any welds, only in the flanges but that is normal and they will look like the ones you saw on the pictures. This system is suppose to have similar quality of akropovic system but it will only be offered in inconel and 304SS not in titanium.

Very excited now! Things are getting done quickly, also we're going to be featured in a magazine that will be testing this, so be prepared for a change in the way you see the exhaust system for a BMW; after we finish this one we are not going to stop...!

As i said on Zpost, i can't wait to see some videos and dyno sheets. It sure looks very well designed!

30-40bhp sounds a lot from just an exhaust system - especially when the standard system is not particularly restrictive.

I'm just curious why BMW didn't just replace the standard M3 exhaust with an aftermarket one and get the 30-40bhp gain for a few hundred pounds for the CSL - and end up with more power than they did :fuelfire:

You might as well by a custom Akrapovic Titanium one. BTW Supersprint only claim 11hp & 9nm over standard for their complete Z4M system with 'racing' pipes.

To be fair GA41 did write HP not BHP. (a ford focus would make 10000HP?) no idea.

Yep sounds pants on fire.

Guys dont forget that US spec cars are already about 10hp down from EU ones because of them having catalytic converters on the headers, i dont think it's unreasonable to see 30hp from installing good aftermarket manifolds, 100 cell cats a X pipe and mufflers.

nope....

I think less restrictive catalysts will prolly net you slightly more HP but may cost you some torque. As mentioned I dun figure BMW giving you a high performance engine and mating it to a restrictive exhaust. Whatever restriction i figure must be down to cats. In any case, there is normally a compromise.

still think that when you change the exhaust you get more boomy noises and lose that metallic rasp, bmw inline 6 motorsport engines are famous for.

X-pipe = 9Lbs
S-pipe = 7Lbs
Street Resonators = 3Lbs each
Sport Resonator = 2Lbs
Cats = 3Lbs each
Bypass pipe = 2Lbs
Mufflers
Street 13Lbs each
Sport 10Lbs each
Race 8Lbs each

So S-pipe + 2 Resonators/Cats + X-pipe + 2 Mufflers = average 42Lbs for Sec1 and Sec2

Oem mufflers Alone have 44Lbs

Quite right, you do loose SOME of that metalic rasp but that is partly due to more decibels covering it. I still get it at the top end. I disagree though in that you do not necessarily get more boom. Just get a decent aftermarkeet one. I'm a litttle sceptic over the hp gans many claim though...

let us know if this thing goes ahead... still curious

34bhp!

That is quite an improvement in power from just reducing pumping losses. The standard system must be really crappy...

Anyone done any 1/4m times/speeds before/after fitment?

Dave
34 bhp..? Maybe possible with a different ECU and air filter, but only a exhaust..?

I am definitely keeping my eye out for reviews of this thing. This thread should be very interesting http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=612475

Sounds good if a little 'one toned' if you follow my meaning not always easy to judge until you hear it in the flesh. Probably a bit too loud for everyday use.
