New EBC Balanced Brake Kit Upgrade.

I've just been reading on EBC Website about their new, soon to be released Balanced Brake Upgrade Kits.

These look like a great package as they combine, front discs/rotors, 4-piston front callipers, and then front and rear stainless steel brake lines and front and rear yellowstuff road/track pads.

So you retain your stock rear discs/rotors and rear callipers although I notice they will soon also introduce/expand the line up with 6-piston front callipers and 2-piston rear callipers so you change the callipers all round.

This looks a great all round package especially perhaps for the Z4M which has the semi-floating discs on the rear so may not need discs/rotors all round but would benefit from a fully upgraded front wheel set up and stainless steel lines and yellowstuff pads all round and DOT 4 fluid.

I've emailed EBC for more detail but I suspect that the more enquiries they get for specific car models the more chance of them prioritising introduction of kits for that car model earlier.

Would be interested to hear people thoughts on this..

Also hope they don't limit you to use EBC pads only!

They probably will, at least in terms of initial warranty. Will be interesting to see.

I know there has been a lot of criticism of EBC pads in the past and also present, but a lot of praise too. From reading various forums and some history of EBC the company it seems to me that they have made steady progress over the years in terms of design, manufacturing and quality and now provide very good, well engineering products at a very competitive price point.

Being a Brit, I also like the designed and made in UK thing as well.

Well - that's probably why we read the write up's..
The 'yellowstuff's' at least, were the worst pads I've yet tried on track, falling to bits in no time at all.
Using Carbotech, Pagid, PFC etc however in this kit I'm sure would work fine?

OK, interesting. Yet, the Silverstone Circuit Supercar Driving experience cars use EBC Yellowstuff pads and they've had no issues with the pads and recommend them.
Different people have different experiences good and bad I suppose..

Years ago EBC were the pads to buy for motorcycles, there wernt really many alternatives. Same for clutch kits.
Everybody raved about them with most people sporting an EBC sticker on their bike.
I never liked them, although they had good stopping power most were sintered so squealed in the rain and they ate through disks which are not cheap on a bike.
Over the years it seemed more and more brake pad manufacturers came on the scene with better pads and EBC seemed to fall behind.
Not used EBC on anything in years because of this.

FWIW I don't like the Yellow Stuff pads much and prefer the Red Stuff. For track use, I'd go to something like Porterfield R4.

If you look at the kit as simply a rotor package, and buy your pads elsewhere, it may be a decent value, depending on price, but bear in mind that although the rotors may look neat, they may do little for day to day brake performance.
