Hi all,
just stopping by to say hi. I pick up my first Z car on Friday and very excited.
It's a 2011 23i m sport highline in white, with black interior, with iDrive.

I'm based in Frome. I have a carly already from another car, so will be digging iin with that. If anybody else needs anything coded just shout. I'll drop my details in the carly thread once the car arrives and I check it works.

Cheers!

Welcome aboard [ref]pariahrob[/ref].
I believe you may have set a record for the longest time between an introduction and a request for photos.
So either we're all asleep today, or possibly [ref]maxman[/ref] didn't notice you haven't got your Z yet. :poke: :D

Only 3 more sleeps!!

Hi and welcome to the forum Rob.

I hope the days don't drag too much until Friday!

Thanks for the warm welcome all.
It’s been a long week but only one more sleep.
If I can hold off driving it long enough to take a few photos I will.
Twelve hours and it’ll be mine.

Hi all. Picked up the ‘yet to be named’ e89 today. Three hour drive home went very well and overall very happy.

It’s an s drive 23i m sport high line. Two things to investigate. First is the carbon aluminium center console trim is a bit worn. Not sure if I’ll replace or recover. Thoughts?

Other is the roof. Opened and closed fine but stopped to reopen when rain started. All opened but the windows didn’t close after and the ‘bong’ and warning light came on. It turned off after a minute or two and the windows worked again.
Any ideas?

So gremlin aside I’m over the moon. Pretty car and drives really well.

Was this from a private sale or garage.? if its going wrong the second time you use it id be taking it back for fixing. Did you have the engine running? Might be a battery issue which is common on these.. or if you're on a slope it doesn't like that either.. there's a few things to check.. at least the roof went up.. :D and as you have carly you can check if there are any codes..

Or you could be like me who phoned the previous owner (sorry Rob  ) 3 minutes after driving away from his house to say I couldn’t get the roof to work to be asked simply is the luggage cover tray down properly, which of course it wasn’t, I pushed it home properly and it worked straight away

Ooos! I’ll try that in the morning. I didn’t even think of that!
I stopped by Halfords a little while ago to ask about batteries.
I was told that mine doesn’t need registering as it’s not a stop start. Is that right?

Ok. So time to hold my hands up in shame.
I didn’t have the luggage tray seated right. All good now and loving the car!

As said I feel your pain and embarrassment , but at least it pointed you in the right direction but the way to look at it is a cheap and easy fix and you can now enjoy it :driving:

Hi all.

Well, I have had my car for six months now and couldn't be happier. I've loved every second, with the exception of very hiccups but that was totally down to my ignorance!
I'm a tinkerer and fettler usually but so far I've not done much at all to this (still needs a name). The only thing I've done is to remove the dodgy, worn 'M' badges that the previous owner has plastered all over it, along with the sdrive 23i badges and rear 'Z' badge. I love the clean look on the white ones.
This weekend I'll be fitting an MMI carplay module to my idrive. That looks like a fairly straightforward install but any tips welcome.

Future plans are to have the wheels refurbed and painted in gloss black. I saw a white one locally the other day with a front splitter which looked nice too. Oh and a mate is encouraging me to get a remus back box. Any thoughts on them?

Cheers
