I've no idea why Champagne seems to wear more than Imola. but it probably looks worse because of the light colour.
The size of the driver and how they get in and out of the car must be a factor too. My first two Z4s both had Pearl Grey Oregon leather, but the first one had far more wear at 54K miles than my second had at 77K.
