New E89 23i owner

Hi guys!

Thought I'd introduce myself and my new car. Tomorrow I'm going to be the proud owner of a 2011 E89 sDrive23i M Sport Highline Edition in Alpine White and Coral Red leather. She's got 25k on the clock and at Elms in Bishops Stortford.

I know everyone likes pics so here's one from the advert. More when I collect!

The Zed is going to be my station / airport car and replacing a 2004 Polo which was a stopgap until I could afford something nicer. The Zed joins my wife's car - F25 X3 xDrive20d and follows a long line of BMWs; 330Ci, 535d, 550i, X5 40d and I'm really looking forward to having another straight six petrol back on the fleet! :D

The Zed doesnt have much more than the Highline upgrades but has the essentials for me - xenons, heated seats, satnav, bluetooth and I already have a few mods underway....

- Elms are fitting the OEM wind deflector kit & OEM mudguards (I live on a farm!)
- a BMWLänder member has kindly donated his stubby aerial from his 35is he no longer has
- booked into AudioFile in Bishops Stortford for a complete ICE makeover - System3 Plus with time alignment.
- would like to upgrade LED angel eyes to white and do the indicator mod.

Other than that I do like to keep my cars standard. Will be on the search for a set of winter wheels in due course.

Look forward to joining the Zed community - I'm a Mod on BMWLänder but with it being so new, we don't have much of a database on the Zeds to look forward to learning from you guys. :D

Thanks chaps. Can't wait. It was a real toss up between the 23i and 30i but decided that I didn't need the extra bhp when the 2.5i was already so lovely to rev out. Sounded beautiful on the testdrive.

Re: the ICE - I'm looking forward to that. I know Gary well since he installed System2 Plus on my E70 X5 a couple of years ago. It was an amazing system which really blew me away. The only regret was not going the whole hog and having the subs upgraded since the factory ones were fine when static or low speed, but not as tight as to match the rest of the setup when on the move. I decided with the Zed that given the increased road/wind/tyre noise, it was best just to go for the full works on day 1. For the record, I'm no Audiophile, but I have found over the years that BMW Systems (in standard form and even in upgraded form) really aren't up to much. So it was a bit of a no-brainer that Gary would get my business again when I found this car with the standard audio package.

If anyone is interested, I will do a separate thread on it though. The great thing about Gary is he is fastidious about keeping everthing OEM so there are no visible clues that he and his team have been in there - everything is just as you would expect to see, but so much goes on behind the trim - dynamat on the inside of the doors and around speaker cones, crossovers, new amps - all kept well out of site and whereever possible dove-tailed in with what's already there so it looks like a factory system. He does photos along the way and provides DVD disc with all of the process saved on there, so I will endeavour to post pics on here once I have them.

@Z4M-2006 - you'll probably recognise me from BMWLand as I was pretty regular on there before Matt passed away. I've got the same handle on BMWLänder too. :thumbsup:
 
Welcome aboard, you'll find a wealth of information and enthusiasm here. For the most part we're all super helpful (though we do have our spats now and again just for laughs).

I look forward to your write up on the audio system and costs as I'm considering the same.

Hi! I remember your handle from BMWLand too. Small world! :)

Certainly plan on keeping the running reports going whether over here or on BMWLand. Currently have an interesting one going for my motorhome too over the Land. :lol:

Notice you have the same - what exactly was included as part of the Highline Pack? I'm assuming Media Pack but was there something else too?
