New E86 owner

Hello everyone,

I am from Hailsham, East Sussex and recently bought an E86 manual.

I come from a TT 225 and a Renault R26 F1 230 as previous cars.

My E86,
Needs a bit of work doing, firstly a new clutch, gasket for the oil filter and cooler then probably onto suspension as the top mounts are beginning to split.

I have a question, one of the tail lights (the right side looking at it) is dimmer than the left. Is this an earthing issue/LED replacement or will have either have to split or replace the cluster?

I am hoping they are just a bulb or earth issue but you guys know more no doubt than me!

No worries, I’m slightly worried it’s Plasma or something having just taken a look. I can only find the fog, indicator reverse light bulbs 😂
 
Welcome! Great taste in cars you have there. Well... the E86 anyway!

To clarify, when you say one side is dimmer, are you talking about the three led strips in one rear light are dimmer than the other?

If so, you might be looking at a new unit. Unless some electronics wizard knows how to sort them and the unit itself is able to be disassembled and put back together without issue.

Yea, the three strips. I thought it would need a new cluster after having a quick look. Oh well. I bought the car knowing that it would need a fair bit of money to bring it up to scratch.

If you mean Amarone leather looking like it’s made out of lots of aubergines then yes that is the one you’ve clearly seen. 😂
 
Ah man, those seats are awful. Better do a swap with my rare black seats. I won't even charge, that's how nice we are on this forum :wink: :P

Been hankering after amarone ever since i got my car. They're highly appreciated on here :thumbsup:

Like this? Don't think it's fixable... could always try cutting open and trying to fix?
 
Yea that’s the one.

No it seems not fixable so I’ll get a new cluster once I’ve sorted the more important mechanical bits on it.
 
Might be worth keeping an eye out now. They aren't that common. There seem to be a few on ebay at the moment, but they're all obviously on the high end of the price range.
 
Welcome , lovely trim , very much sought after 8) pretty sure it was discussed recently , i recognise the colour scheme & backbox tips .
Is it a Cat registered car ?
