New e86 owner …needs help

Hi all,
I’m having issues with a vague wondering feeling with steering at 60 to 70mph usually in a straight line, it’s fine on country roads.

I’ve done the following

4 wheel alignment (rear near side camber was out ….now adjusted)
No difference

Control arm bushes swapped (meyle)
No difference

Here’s the thing

Wheels are Z4M 224 alloys…. but the tyres are
F 225/45/18
R 255/40/18
Tyres are also Z4M spec ….my car is 3.0si not Z4M

Q should I revert to stock tyres for 3.0si
F 225/40/18
R 255/35/18

If yes will the stock tyres behave on the wider M wheel ?

Or am I clutching at straws

Unlikely to be the wheel and tyre combination causing the wandering. Suggest you look for movement in tie rods / ball joints. And old shocks too will not help you here. Tyre pressures? We run 30-32psi front and rear. If that helps :)

Those wheels and tyres should be fine on your car. Have you tried jacking the car up and twisting the wheels by hand to look for play?

I agree that the wheels/tyres should be fine.
Do you know how old the shocks are? I think I'd be looking at them if the suspension bushes etc have no play.
Pretty simple to change.

The garage that fitted the control arm bushes went round ball joints / tie rod etc and couldn’t find any play … tyre pressures are higher than 30/32 tho so I’ll address this ….cheers for replies 👍

Fiddle with the tyre pressures first then and hopefully that'll cure it.
However, I have had cars with brand new MOTs and then found all the shock absorbers completely knackered.

Have a read of this mate. Might need adjusting.
