Good day fellow beemers!

I'm so honoured & happy to officially join the BMW family.

I've been a petrol head for as long as I can remember (like everyone here), but I've had my fair share of financial problems & life struggles (again, like most people here) which meant I had to stay away from buying & working on cars for some time.

I've been casually looking for a Z4 for a while on AutoTrader because I wanted to buy it from a dealer as I was afraid of buying it privately since I haven't do that in a while, especially in the UK (I used to live in Canada & moved to Sheffield 2 years ago). But Friday night, I saw the one from a private seller! With the support of my amazing wife, we were able to finally pick up this gorgeous 07 E85 this past Saturday (23/04/22) from a guy in Huddersfield (he was such a gem of a person).
I messaged him Friday night, he replied immediately saying you can come Saturday afternoon. The rest is history.

I'm the 7th owner of this Z4 and I can tell that previous owners have cherished it very well. I'm so blessed to have an immaculate 1st Z4!

So, main specs are:
> 2.0i - 6 speed manual
> Cup holders!!!! ❤️
> Heated black leather bucket seats
> Black M-sport steering wheel with radio controls
> Powder coated gun metal 18" M-sport wheels with spacers (makes it look soooo much better!)
> Upgraded LED lights all around

Some of the first minor faults that I spotted with the car (which I'm still researching how to fix) are:
> Leaking driver side roof latch area (looks like a sealant problem) - noticed when washing the car.
> Condensed fog lights (gonna try the hair dryer method & see where that takes me)
> Yellowed headlights (need to try polishing them)
> Headlights & taillights always on (day & night), even though it's on Auto mode and I tried switching them on/off manually. But only the dash lights switch on/off automatically. Is this how it's supposed to be? (Doubt it). I'm assuming it's because the previous owner upgraded them to LEDs and something went wrong or he did something to make em this way. Will keep looking into it.

Some immediate questions I have:
> Anyone from Sheffield on here? I'd like to meet some of you.
> Trusted websites/shops to modify & do servicing on the car.
> PLEASE advise me of upcoming car meets/insta pages to follow (haven't been to a car meet in more than 5 years 💔)

Thank you all for taking some time to read my post, I look forward to meeting some of you and sharing this journey with you 😊

Cheers!
Taz

Welcome Taz!

That looks a fine car: well done!

There are quite a few owners in Sheffield and the surrounding area- have a look on Facebook the Yorkshire z4 owners club is very active and welcomes new members

Stuart

Welcome aboard. Fine looking car you've got yourself.
My wife's 2.5i does the same thing with the lights. Being a grey car she prefers it that way as it makes it easier to see.
I was told by the previous owner that this was something achieved by coding?
If you want that feature turned off I'm sure there'll be someone on here who can help/advise.

Regarding work required.
I would always suggest you start by asking on here first.
Obviously if you want the service history maintained then you need to find a trusted indy, but for any repairs, modifications etc, it's always worth asking the members.
For example, Stuart (bigwinn) isn't a million miles away in Lincoln and if you search his posts you'll see he can do a lot of stuff for you.
If the roof motor hasn't already been relocated then you may wish to consider that. Literally hundreds of pages about it on here.
But first and foremost, get out and enjoy it.

Welcome. It looks lovely.
Most facelift fog lights go bad. I've tinted mine with film to disguise the mess.

[ref]bigwinn[/ref], thank you, Stuart, for the warm welcome & the recommendation!

[ref]sw4nny[/ref], thank you, I hope to meet you one day!

[ref]enuff_zed[/ref], thank you for the tips! Relocating the roof motor is definitely on the to-do list, better to do it soon than it failing me randomly. As for the lights, that makes sense regarding the coding. I'll probably look into it more and decide whether to keep the operation the way it is or revert to original. Tbh I'm enjoying the 2L engine more than I thought, it's very responsive & got plenty of torque. I can't even imagine what the bigger engines feel like!

[ref]Argyll Andy[/ref], thank you! I absolutely love the wheel color/car combo, one of the reasons I told myself "I should have this!"

[ref]Zulu4[/ref], thank you! I might do that if it takes unnecessary effort to remove & reseal the fog lights haha. As long as they work fine & the mess is hidden.

By coincidence I also picked my first Z4 this past Saturday in Huddersfield.

In fact I believe the seller of my car spoke with you at the bus depot before finding me. Who would have have thought - two people at Huddersfield Bus Station on the same Saturday at 7 a.m. travelling to collect their new E85 Z4s! Were you on the same National Express coach as me?

In Woodhouse, I did wonder if you were on the next street to me as someone there seems to just got a zed, but that one's not on a drive

Hi and welcome to the forum.

And you've bought at the right time of year to enjoy the summer. :driving:

[ref]buzyg[/ref], thank you sir, I look forward to learning more from everyone here.
[ref]plenty[/ref], that's such an amazing coincidence! But no, I actually went by car in the afternoon. Congrats on the Z4!
[ref]LordJimothy[/ref], that's the other side of Sheffield for me, hope to meet you & your Z at some point!
[ref]q96169we[/ref], thank you! :)
[ref]markplant[/ref], not too far from me, I'm in manor top S2
[ref]Mr Tidy[/ref], thank you very much. It's been an amazing drive so far, even when it's cold! Roof down, heated seats on haha

Penistone here!
I'm in Penistone almost every Thursday (Grammar School) and Friday (St. Mary's street). I may use the Z4 more often as the weather becomes better. Flash me if you see a black G29

Hi and welcome to the best forum, lots of good advice here, I've used it plenty of times myself. Also although I'm in Devon I bought mine from Sheffield. So good luck and as others have said great looking car and enjoy the summer drives.
