Hi All, after completing a 2000 mile rally in an old Volvo estate recently I’ve decided that I’m hooked on European driving rallies and a big old Volvo does not suit mountain roads!
During my trip last month I was most envious of the driver of an SLK merc! His car soaked up the miles between countries at sensible mpg yet made light work and looked very nimble on the Stelvio pass, with the top down getting the full experience!
After deciding that the boot space on those was a bit mean I ended up looking for a Z4, nothing so expensive that I would be worried about paint chips etc but something I could enjoy the drive in.
I soon found my 3.0 locally, it’s just turned 80k miles and is in pretty nice condition, I’ve fitted the eBay “cheapo” stainless exhaust as with a voucher it was £209 delivered! Plus an induction kit. Also I’ve refurbished the wheels in a graphite to match the roll hoops.
Thanks for looking, expect a few questions as I prepare the car for our next trip (again through Europe) in May. Even today I’ve fitted a 12v power socket in the boot to plug a refrigerated cool box into! Well you wouldn't want a warm beer would you!243ACA7D-1A11-496E-B79E-8024DB692AF2.jpegBCC2840E-429D-43B5-AFB9-9CE74E70D83B.jpeg

Hi and welcome aboard.

Your car looks great, but I've got a serious case of garage envy.

I bet you are planning your next trip already.

Hi and welcome, agree with Mr Tidy that the garage is amazing. Also love what you've done to the alloys, I have a silver car as well and was going to go black but that colour really goes well.

Thanks Mr Tidy! I’ve actually got two more booked now, a mate of mine came on the last one that went through 8 countries. The next one (just three days) through France, Germany and Austria I’m planning to do with my 9 year old son! Wish me luck.

Bill Boi, I can get you the paint code/name if you like? It just matches the roll hoops perfectly and looks great with the roof off

Yes that would be great as there seems to be a LOT of paints that say grey or graphite but you never know until it's too late. Thanks

Also many thanks for the garage love! Its my escape, I can be down there hours before one of the kids realises I’m not at the house! :D
This pic is a couple of years old so it’s a lot more cluttered with car related junk (better) in there now

This pic also shows wheel colour against rest of car for reference

I can only just open the doors on my car and climb out using a block and tackle system of pulleys in my garage. Yes I like that colour a lot, was worried that going black would be too far off original so that's a great option

Well now you've posted those other photos you've just made it worse.

But you don't seem to have a jukebox in there - I always fancied having one, along with a pool table and a pinball machine and you've got 2 of those man-cave accessories!

Enjoy both those trips, and any more you book!

Holts paints, I’m sure this code translates to a manufacturer

Not sure if the photo appears the same as I’m viewing it but rest assured I did not buy nor do I live in Australia!
Photo looked fine for me in New Zealand haha. Great looking garage as others have said. Just moved house and have a nice garage carpet in mine to keep the car warm and you’ve given me a good example to show my wife how a garage should look.
Welcome to the forum and Z4 ownership, I have a similar car and find it great on the twisty’s once set up.
:driving:

Welcome aboard! I'm planning a trip from Santander to Barcelona and on through southern France. I'm thinking of camping to keep the cost down but haven't disclosed this to my other half who prefers 4 star hotels! Any tips on touring with a Z4?
