New double din ICE install

Hi All

Just finished installing my new Alpine stereo with Apple Car Play. I removed the original radio CD unit and vents before blocking the hole and cutting a new one. I had originally intended to put new fixed vents either side of the stereo but preferred the clean line instead. Once completed I took the car out for a road test in the sun!!

It's still a work in progress as I need to play with the phone plug in. The system operates from the iPhone via a lightning cable. I have it mounted in the ashtray with the bottom cut out and a phone cradle on the floor below but it's difficult to plug in and there's very little space.

So it's one of the units that only works with a phone connected?

Regarding the ashtray, there are a few on here that have made proper docks for their iPhones, normally by morphing an astray and dock together.

Yeah, I used a Mechless unit so I wouldn't have to cut the air duct behind. Plus all my music is on the phone so it made sense to combine the two.

I had wanted to put vents in but have looked at other attempts to install a double din unit but not seen one with vents that I liked.
