New discs needed - which to go for?

Just had the brake pad sensor come on, and I recall my recent MOT said something about the discs needing changing soon. A quick search of ebay shows I can get discs relatively cheaply: Delphi £53; Mintex £45; Pagid £45; Brembo £64; EBC £84.

Any views on which is best? Or are they all pretty much the same?

Been using these for a while, great value for money & work well.

Personally brembo HC or the new textar stuff seems pretty good.

I have a contact for brembo discs if you want me to get you a quote?

Yes, please do get a quote if it's no trouble. Not sure what HC disks are, but EBay seller has Brembo disks at £64.30 a pair.

Link? Brembo do (or at least used to do) two disc types, standard, and high carbon (HC). The HC are the better disc.

Is it the front ones you're after?

These may be the standard ones though. Yes, front needed.

Just fyi, the sensor is for the pads, not the discs I believe?

Asked for a price mate.

Any of those initially mentioned painted? i.e the hub part & outer vents/ circumference where they get rusty stupid fast!

I assume yours is an Si???

I've just had the question asked by my guy.

Also, Si's are 217hp? Where the hell does that come from?

Here y'go on the Si:

£71 posted please for a pair of Brembo HC coated (sprayed to prevent surface rust) discs or £101 please with Brembo oem pads

^^ That doesnt sound too bad. Due for some shortly, discs have a good 'lip' on them.

Take it the pad wear sensors have to be changed too- are these generally bought from the dealer or do most brake places stock/ order these in too?

Not if you haven't damaged them you don't.

Should just pull out and go in. There's a little securing clip that's fiddly, but I've not had to replace one on the last two members brakes I changed.

Prices sound good, but are these different discs than the £64 Brembo ones in my EBay link? It's not clear to me from the Brembo website whether their 'standard discs' are HC - but as you say, HC may be a higher spec. If they are, could you give me contact details of how to buy them please?

You are correct. The pads have an embedded wire that makes contact with the disc or is broken when the wire hits the disc and activates a circuit. Thus Illuminating your brake indicator. Which is an indication of pad wear not disc wear. The only way to check for an out of tolerance disc is to measure it with a micrometer.

Just bought a set 'black edition' for my Si upgrade

Did you get them with the drilled or grooved options at all?

Been looking at the "mtec" kits myself. Full set for £180 and you get a 10% discount. Good value imo, can't comment on performance though as not used them.

Anyone else tried and tested mtec brakes?
