new convertible motor lasted 3 months

So upset right now. Bought Z4 with top not working spent $500 on new motor, took a day to install it, worked with no problems...and now it doesn't go down anymore...past couple days it was slowing down, was acting up and today it completely broke I guess.

:/

Might just sell Z4 with top not working?

What should I do?
 
Did you clear out your roof drains when you changed your motor? What was wrong with the previous motor?

Also... If you bought the motor from BMW it should be covered by a 2 year parts warranty.

What about hydro fluid - did you lose any when changing over the motor ?

Roof drains? I don't think we did

Old motor was destroyed/flooded

If the old motor was water damaged & you didn't clear the drains then it sounds as though the same fate may have occurred to your new motor, it's a common issue & you can read lots about it on here using the search facility.

If the old motor was water damaged & you didn't clear the drains then it sounds as though the same fate may have occurred to your new motor, it's a common issue & you can read lots about it on here using the search facility.

Already searched and researched. Followed the guide so idk where we went wrong
 
Apparently the motors can be cleaned up & made to work again in a lot of cases, I should imagine even more so if yours is only 3months old, clean the corrosion off & bench test and then clean your roof drains!

Update:

Hey guys I apparently have a hydraulic fluid leak. Noticed little puddle on the ground, other side of pump. So right where the drain is located...

I should be relieved right? Lol :)
 
Dodged a(nother) bullet, I think :thumbsup:

Well, except having to take it all apart again :D
