New Coil Pack Connections N52 Engine

I have been trying to buy the correct part for my coil packs. I tried the Bosch parts from ECPs and the tab that locates into the connector is at the bottom where the original is offset.

So I ordered new Delphi parts as per the updated part on Real OEM part number 12138616153. This is the same.

It turns out that BMW have changed the connection and the new connection will accommodate both parts.

I found a useful article https://www.bmwrepairguide.com/bmw-coil-socket-housing-replacement-all-bmw-models-2003-2016/ which explains the procedure to swap them over. The new connection is £3.50 each.

Yea had the same thing last year on on mine except needed a central tab rather than offset and the ones that arrived were offset!

This is a super useful guide mate thank for sharing, will have to do this so I can accept either type in future.

Sadly he mullers them with a screwdriver, the release tools are available online for cheap

Is that for Delphi as they told me they don’t stock them?

No, Bosch
Having some difficulties with getting them, initially give me a set with the centre lug. Then give me another 6, half with centre lug, half with left hand. They’ve assured me I’ll get the rest of the correct ones tomorrow

The new connection plugs cater for both. I have Delphi now and new connections so future proofed. Hopefully you get sorted

I accidentally ordered the newer delphi coil.
Just cut the tab out of the new coil with a precision knife..

Or do the job properly and replace the connectors (using a pin removal tool rather than butchering the contacts).
