New car next weekend

Looks very smart. Never had one but by all accounts a real drivers’ car. Enjoy.😊

Very nice, I had a long test drive in one of these and loved it. The only issue I had was my shoulders aligned with the narrowest part of the wingback comfort seat, so I couldn’t get 100% comfortable.

I did find the bucket seats better, but I wasn’t committed enough to buy one as the storage is limited. Ended up with the 718 Cayman, which is almost as good to drive, but the Alpine felt a little more alive… wonderful car to drive, I’m sure you’ll love it.

Probably about the ONLY old-fashioned 'sportscar' still being made. Light (very for 2025), nimble, quick and not stupidly expensive. Well done Renault.

Only problem I have is they are not pretty. In fact IMO they are fugly as feck. If they was prettier, there could be one in the Pond garage now.

I think they look OK, but they really aren't old-fashioned cars when they have flappy-paddle only gearbox options and turbo engines instead of high-revving N/A screamers. :(

There fixed that for you Iain (or do we now address you as Sir, or 'Gov'?). :ROFLMAO:

Very cool car to get into, nice one!

Keep us posted with the ownership experience!

Thanks everyone. I have had a 981 Boxster in a previous life, so decided to skip over the Cayman for now. Driving the base model back to back with an M2 Competition was like going from wearing wellies to running shoes. From there I just man-mathed myself into an ex-demo S with 1k on the clock :D

Next up, I found this plate at DVLA for £799, good idea or terrible?

Your call on that one.

The plates I have relate to my name so not out of place moving from car to car. Model-specific ones generally mean that they are likely to remain with the car when you sell it. With so few Alpine's on the road, don't know that there is much of a market for re-sale if that matters.

It could be construed as "Ali Penis", so if you want people to think you're a cock called Alistair, carry on.

As said above, a car-specific plate is no use to you in the future IMO.

Like when you see Mercs with plates like "MY05 BMW", you know they just refused to give the plate up. ;)

More like messed it up. :p

I wouldn't buy a plate that is specific to the car either because it would have to go when the car did, but I can understand why people do.

I'm still Iain!

That is nice, especially as it is not in the launch colour where they were all blue

If you like it, buy it. The outlay is minimal compared with the purchase and running costs of a car.
Why care what other people think? I expect there are lots of people who would wonder why you would spend so much on such an impractical car instead of buying a far cheaper and likely more reliable Japanese SUV!
