New Car delivery times

Just wandering if anyone has placed a new car order and what your expected delivery time is?

I know last year delivery times weren't great with Ukraine and the pandemic etc but was hoping things might be improving by now but seems not.

I was looking to trade my Hyundai Kona in for a Hyundai i20N. I know last years delivery on the i20N model was upto 12 months  so have been keeping an eye out on dealer new stock around the country the past few months but each time a car comes up its either a phantom car or its snapped up immediately. Placed a reservation of 99 quid on the car below some 200 miles away from me over the Bank Holiday only to be told yesterday its gone and their stock page hadn't been updated :|

I asked what's the delivery now on this model and the sales guy said they placed an order last month and latest delivery is next January

Anyone else having similar?

There's one or two on Cazoo with lowish mileage but a little reluctant buying a car from them.

Depending on the make/model (and excluding exotics), anywhere from 3 to 18 months.

Thanks for the links, looks like all manufacturers are as bad as one another unless you want a Peugeot  :D

We went last month to change my wife’s Audi A3 for a new model and were quoted 6 months delivery.

During that time, the part exchange value of the current car would be discounted month by month to reflect current market value. We walked away.

That was the same as the current Z4, car had to go back 2 weeks before handover for revaluation. Wasn’t any better/worse than I expected tbh

That is the same with any new car purchase. It is the value of the day, not the future value. Only way would be to hand the car over that day which is what I have done it the past.

I think that it’s been made worse because of the government mandate to sell more electric cars with dealers being fined if they don’t sell enough. Dealers are limiting the number of ice cars they have for sale to push customers into electric vehicles they don’t want.

Took five months in the end. Ordered end of July last year and collected last Xmas. Not bad really as the waiting list was well over 12 months to two years at one point.

Great motor but still hankering after a Roadster or Targa top, MX5 RF or G29 Z4 but keep telling myself no

Best thing with the I20n is it asks you if you want to go in N Performance mode when coming up to an S bend. Don't know of any other car that does that :)

Delivery times all depend on what it is, and what you order IME.
Ordering a car to be built is basically ordering a 'time slot' these days so can take ages.
I ordered a new car on Friday (two working days ago), it is now on it's way to the registering dealer from a compound somewhere in the UK and I expect to take delivery in less than two weeks. I did only have the choice of available cars, though.
