New car day

Ok, ok…. It’s dirty because I’ve been too busy driving it…. Absolutely love it!

It’s immaculate, 2 owners (I’m the 3rd) I’ve done a couple of hundred miles in it so it sits at 13,700 miles.

Anyone who’s bought a Boxster or Cayman will know how hard it is to find one with exactly the spec you want, so I’ve made a couple of compromises which I’ll resolve once the Porsche warranty runs out.

Painted Calipers, different wheels as currently 18’s and a fruitier exhaust - can’t do anything until warranty runs out though.

Come on you know the rules, new car means photos. Are you too embarrassed :poke:

Nope… been too busy driving it :driving:

…and doing some highlights and perms, before anyone else gets that dig in :poke:

The Porsche lot are a funny old bunch though,
Try the Aston Martin forums....they all think they are some kind of 'higher human race' than the mere mortals.
I noticed there was a lot of talk of 'charity events' for them to give something back to the 'poor people' (and to show off how rich they were). Pretentious w*****s. :D

Met one of my best mates for breakfast this morning…. He mentioned buying an Aston Martin, I’ve know him 25 years and he’s never mentioned it before :?

He’s in a good financial position, but has worked very hard and never been divorced… not the look down on others type, but would do anything to help his friends.

Congratulations OP.

Enjoy it. :driving:

Funnily I'd also read about how crap the 4 cylinder sounds too. However I was out in the 370Z(roof down) once, and I got behind a 4 cylinder Cayman, and no word of a lie, I thought it sounded really nice when he gunned it. 8)

If it doesn’t sound like a flat 6 to a ‘Porsche guy’ it sounds crap, to most other people it just sounds ‘different’… I’ve followed a friends 2.5GTS a few times (before buying this), and I thought that sounded fantastic.

Looks lovely. I can see its got some decent factory options on it such as heated multi function steering wheel, heated seats, rear camera and folding mirrors

Thank you, yes it’s a very nice place to be.

Extended leather on the dash and door cards, 14 way electric memory sports seats (which I have to say are fantastic), Navigation, blindspot warning on the mirrors, Cruise. I’m not sure what comes as standard, but from what I can gather… not very much

The last owner had a Ghost II fitted too, which I have to say is also brilliant. Car won’t start if you don’t do certain things in a certain order

Your right about the options which does make it very difficult finding a used car which suits you. Looks like you have got yourself a highly optioned 718.

Thank you for the photos and apologies if I sounded a bit rude, that's what jealousy can do to a person  The car looks absolutely fabulous and yes I have heard them whizzing around and to me they sound great. Well done.

We've tried speccing a Porsche up a few times in the past, and the options lists are epic for sure! I reckon that my Caterham has more creature comforts on it as standard than a Porsche to be fair!

Porsche have a cracking business model though I reckon, because they know that most folk will pay for the options regardless.

No need to apologise for anything, nothing wrong with a little banter, the “mug pic” was a bit of a tease/bait!… I know when others post pics of other cars I’m always interested to see them.

For example, I genuinely can’t wait to see @Pondrew ‘s labour of love when it’s finished… I’m 55 1/2 so hopefully I’ll live long enough :D

I'm 18 months older than you, mate. I am not confident I will live long enough to see it. :o

Congrats on your Porker, BTW. They look an awful lot better than the previous incarnations, I will give you that.
Keep saving and you can get a proper Porker, one day! :poke: :poke:

Only teasing.

Very nice. Interesting re Ghost as that invalidates the warranty (officially)

You can buy some 911’s for surprisingly little…. But I’d imagine maintaining them would cost unsurprisingly large amounts

It’s a baby Porsche… but I love it so far.

Well, from a glass half full perspective if my local dealer confirm they won’t look at the car I might as well press on with the bits I want to do sooner rather than later

That’s a very good, and valid, point though… hadn’t thought of that, but it is of course a modification

I was looking at the warranty as a bonus really, it wasn’t a deciding factor. I’m very happy indeed with what I paid for the car, it was well under the maximum budget I’d set myself for my first Porsche and very keenly priced even for a private sale.

I had to kiss a few frogs though, been to look at quite a few cars before I got to this one and in all honesty was starting to get a bit fed up.

I think that is bad in some ways to be honest, because all you're doing is to trying to protect your pride and joy from getting nicked. I guess rules are rules though.

Under two weeks for the first upgrade… Cayman S 19’s with nearly new tires went on on Sunday :)
