On the train as it’s new car day.
Been looking at 718’s and settled on a low Mileage, 2 owner, Boxster 2.0t PDK. Was open to Cayman and Boxster, but this car ticked many of my Boxes.
The Porsche lot are a funny old bunch though, apparently the 2.0 flat 4 Turbo is slow and unresponsive?? Terrible to drive, no better than a golf! The list of ‘must have’ extras is ridiculous too, can’t buy one without the in-car popcorn maker!
It’ll do 0-62 in 4.9 and 0-100 in circa 10, slow it most certainly is not. “But it’s not flat 6, a 3.4 is better” (the 3.4 is Slower, has less torque and is less fuel efficient) - I concede that it does sound better.
I suspect that the vast majority of the ‘Porscheista’ have never sat in 4cyl 718 let alone driven one.
Anyway, can’t beat the straight 6, I’ll take the Alpina out if I just want to listen to the engine!
