New car availability

I had to speak with BCA this morning regarding returning my last lease car.
Had a really interesting conversation with the chap, as I was questioning why they are hassling me to book my collection when the lease is up on 20th March.
He said that new car deliveries are starting to get back to normal (pre pandemic), so they are anticipating a huge demand in the next couple of months so want to book slots way in advance.
If he is right, it is highly likely the stupidly high used car prices will start to drop quickly. I have no official verification for this information but it might be worth thinking about for potential buyers and sellers alike.
It will be too late for me, as I have to buy another car by 10th March :|

Kathleen’s just been on to say that her leasing company have been on about collection of her current one (Golf Evo something….) as they’re desperate to get it back as they want to sell it because they can’t get stock.

She had to extend her lease in Dec because they couldn’t get her a replacement. Same phone call today, like for like (or very similar) 35+ week order time. VW have said they definitely won’t extend her current lease for that period as that will be a full years extension.

So two sides to the same story. :?

As the cost of living has increased dramatically recently, along with interest rate rises and IF new cars are starting to filter through, I can't see used car prices going anywhere but down in the next few months. Having said that I predicted the bottom falling out of the housing market in 2020 but it was completely the opposite; so what do I know? :(

This is why my 3.0i project is out on loan to the son-in-law.
Had to hand back his Merc A-class to Nationwide in mid November but is still not forecast to get his new 1-series until at least mid-April.
As of last week, that prediction had not changed.

Ordered a VW in September (early) and got an email asking if I would like to cancel as there is no build slot. :o

I think Andy side is more like it, they want it back to sell while prices are high, I just helped my Sister in Law buy a new car and that has a 5 to 6 month waiting time so don't see any normality returning yet, in fact three dealers told us the same 4 to 6 months for a new car depending on spec and nothing in stock
