New brakes

So I've basically just copied and pasted the post on the facebook page. I thought it might be good to have it here as well for a resource for anyone who might be interested

So you may have seen on the other page, I've eventually got my new brakes on... first impressions are good. Pedal feel is not as bad as I would have thought but I'll likely upgrade the master cylinder at some point. Currently have no handbrake as ive still to modify the new 180mm shoes to the old ones.
So the spec for anyone who's interested:
Fronts
F-series 340mm brembos
Vauxhall Insignia 337x30mm discs (modified: centrebore machined out to bmw spec. They are already 5x120 pcd)
2mm washers to space the calipers out
Rears
E46 330i rear calipers
E60 320mm discs
No modifications

All in all the cost was about 600 and thats for everything including rebuild kit for the rear and new pads and clips all round. Currently looking into using an M4 master cylinder as they are about 50 quid as apposed to an e46 m3 one.

As far as weight is concerned, I'm about 4kg each corner over the standard 2.5 setup including spacers (20mm front 15mm rear). It is slightly noticeable but the wider track makes quite a difference too.

I'm quite pleased really

Thanks guys... it took a while to figure out what would fit and the how and the where... and i do have a few random brake discs lying around lol...

Just received my M4 master cylinder for £40... it may be interesting to get that to work but hey! Thats half the fun right...

After a couple of hundred miles the setup is bedding in well... however it is apparent that the ditchfinder tyres on my wheels are no longer up to the job..

Great :D

How did you find the front/rear brake bias with the big Brembos?

Was the master cylinder swap required?
