New Brake Pads & Discs

Hi guys,

My Z is currently having a new set of pads and discs fitted. I've read a few articles about the bedding-in process and plan on doing that. But I'm a bit confused over when to do this. Bearing in mind that the discs are new as well, should I do this ASAP or after so many miles / months or normal (careful) driving?

Anyone who's got some experience of this and would like to share, it would be greatly appreciated :)

Cheers in advance. Rob.

Bedding in is done as soon as the new discs & pads are installed.

On standard BMW pads & discs, you only need to do a couple of miles of bedding in for them to be fine. It's the aftermarket/harder pads that need a more 'involved' process.

Simply ensure the discs are cleaned with brake cleaner once they're installed to remove any oils from them, and then take the car out for a drive. Do a few light braking applications from 10-20mph, then a few medium pressure ones from a bit faster and finish with a few harder applications to see if the car is pulling one way or the other.

Standard pads shouldn't need much more than this.

Thanks for the advice mmm-five! I'll take her out for a decent spin when I collect later. :)
Sorry, I assumed you were doing them yourself.

If someone else is doing them, then ask if they've done any bedding in already, as it's not worth the duplication of effort.
