Just saying hi! :D

Recently purchased a 2004 Z4 2.2i SE in desperate need of some TLC.

I've been a regular on E39 and E53 forums over the years which have proved invaluable to my various projects - I've no doubt this forum will be too and hopefully I'll be able to contribute something useful in return too.

Looking forward to learning more about these great cars.

Hi and welcome,
I have over the years, found both the other members on the forum, and the info in the treads very helpful.

Hi and welcome. Whilst I personally will be of absolutely no use to you, there's a lot of extremely knowlegable people on here who between them know everything and more about Zeds.

In order to help they have to picture your car In their minds, and they can only do this if they have seen a picture of your car - so you need to get one posted on here!

Enjoy :driving:

Welcome - what TLC does it need?

Where do I start - it needs so much.

Other than the usual deteriorated / crusty headlights which I polished this weekend the black paintwork is covered in scrapes, scratches and "dooring" marks - some are so bad that I may need to replace complete panels. Luckily most are bolt on.

The whole thing is filthy - inside and out and it stinks. It hasn't been washed or cleaned in years.

The front bumper has been pressed hard into kerbs from repeated careless parking - not only has it scraped the lower valence all over but its broken the lower mounting plastics behind the bumper (the sections that the air temp sensor is mounted on on the left and right hand side) as well as the engine under tray. They're mega bucks from BMW and I can't find any second hand at the moment.

However.... by far the worst aspect is the engine. The idiot who had it previously ran it low on oil. :x

He said he couldn't afford to buy any more and had to get to work and back every day - so ignored it!

I've had to put in 3 litres to get it to register on the dip stick.

Its blowing white smoke out of the exhaust from start up.

This could simply be symptoms of the CCV being shot but I'm worried that the engine has got hot due to lack of oil and heated the head gasket to destruction - therefore possibly the head gasket has gone also giving off the white smoke????

I'm not sure at the moment and it needs further investigation but is off the road so I've got time to tinker and get some help from someone who knows what they're doing.

No mayonnaise oil though (not that there was much in there anyway!) and it doesn't overheat.

It needs rescuing so I've taken it on as a project.

That's quite a list :o
I just don't understand how owners can abuse their Zeds like that?
Hopefully you can give it a good home and restore it back to good health
Welcome btw :)

It's disgraceful isn't it?

Still could have been much, much worse.

The previous owner could have subjected his Zed to an automated car wash 8)

That sounds like a confession - unforgivable :D

Hi and welcome
Wowzers that is quite a list!! I guess you got it a suitably cheap price knowing that? The 3.0l or 2.5l engines are going for as little as £500 might not be worth messing around with a knackered one....
