Hi Everyone - will be using the forum quite a bit to get ideas and share the love for the Z4

Today just put the deposit down and agreed trade in for my Scirocco 2010 1.4TSI DSG for a 2009 White, black alloys and red leather Z4 Sdrive 2.3.

Got to wait a couple of weeks as the dealer has only just got the car in and it has a cherished plate on it which needs to be transferred onto it - I will wait to add my own plate on after I have got the car.

A few new boy questions if you can help me please :-

Ipod connection - The car has the USB socket - will I be able to use an Ipod straight into this connection with an apple cable or do I need another plug/cable - my Scirocco has a cable that sits between the USB and ipod.

Ipod connection - will Iphone 5 plug in and work?

Wind Deflector - I test drove a new car last weekend and this really made a difference - the car I have bought doesnt have one - I had a quick look on ebay and there are plenty about - whats a reasonalble price IYO and do you need mounting brackets to go with it?

It's the SW kit car club. the red one, at the back, used to have a stick in the fuel tank to measure the fuel level. The MR is just a big Seven realy, one that I can fit in that is. Oh and you don't have to take the steering wheel off to get in. :D
 
I am in SW. Devon. I used to have a dutton phaeton years ago (24 years Jesus!). I used to have a stick to measure fuel levels :)

Guessing it's too late to negotiate on the wind deflector with the dealer?? :wink:

My E85 2003 model came with the wind deflector! :P Amazed you haven't got one in your E89! :o

May be wrong but prices seem to be around the £100-200 mark (that's my model though - may be more for your newer version)??

The other thing to consider is getting something custom made? Seen some nice ones in clear perspex and with etching etc? Even a nice machined sheet of aluminium could work quite nicely! :wink:

Just avoid the main stealers! You can buy cheaper elsewhere.

Welcome to the mad house. If the car has USB in the armrest, it can play audio from a USB Stick. If it has both USB and AUX (3.5mm jack) input, which is likely but was an option back then, it will play an iPod/iPhone provided you have the proper Y cable to connect it up. This can be had from BMW at a wallet busting price or you can find knockoffs on eBay.

As for the wind deflector. The kit is well over £200 but you can pick them up on ebay for less, either new or used, pot luck on price and timing as ever with eBay. The reason they're so expensive is because they're a collapsable main deflector, anchor points that go onto each roll hoop, and new roll hoop covers with holes in ready for assembly. You can pick up the wind deflector just as a deflector and anchor points, but then you may need to drill the existing roll hoops or self tap straight through, which isn't a major thing as you'll cover up the holes with the anchor points.

Well a bit of a delay since my last post as got made redundant and had to cancel the order. That said got job offer last week and bought a BMW z4 1.8 2013 with 500 miles on the clock

Did want a faster one but the deal was really good and it's like getting a brand new one rather than a 3 year old one for the same money

It's dark grey colour with sport package, comfort package and a couple of other bits. Get it on Wednesday and can't wait!

Apparently lady bought it and felt claustrophobic in it so changed it for something else. Must have lost a fortune on the change. They had the car for 67 days without selling so a good deal was secured
