I know power showers can deliver water at close to 20 litres per minute so if someone is using one then other people trying to draw off water at other sources in the property may struggle.
We have a hot water cylinder so if for any reason the boiler packs up then we can still deliver hot water from an immersion heater. It's a useful back up.

A good argument for cheap electric showers.
The draw of a couple of taps will leave all standard combis tepid. The floor standing versions that incorporate a heatsink perform better. They are a halfway house between bog standard combi and hot water tank and system boiler. Ours fills a bath in three or four minutes. Its a worcester highflow 3.5. It has been replaced by the greenstar highflow.
It is expensive though, but under 2k, you get what you pay for.

Poor pressure and unreliable. I remember when I was secretary of a squash club a few years back, we were forever replacing them because they used to pack up.

I agree. Now on our second Aqualisa Aquastream power shower. The first one lasted 10 years or so and they have a longer than usual warranty.
We had a Worcester 280RSF for 15 years with only 1 fault in all that time (divert valve) . It died 3 months ago and was replaced with a 36LXI which is new to the WB range but was only available to authorised WB installers at the time
It is so quiet compared to the old boiler and has a much higher hot water output .
Over the last few months it has also used much less gas due to its high efficiency and using a wireless room stat

had one price so far
vaillant ecotec 831 plus fitted £2600, says if i get it fitted before end of march he can possibly secure an extra discount on materials and discount some labour of £225
so that takes to £2375, price doesnt include magnaclean additional £85
so £2460 - £400 scrappage - £100 vaillant cashback = £1960
got more companys on mon/tue/wed coming to price so looks like its a buyers market atm

So effectively they are saying £1100 for labour & materials
are the companies you have chosen come from recommendations ? if not a good way is to call in at your local plumbers merchants & ask them for a couple of names/numbers of local contractors

Thats a lower model. Not that it makes much difference one quoted costs about £100 more
I need some extra piping upgraded to 22mm
The company was an approved installler as you get increased warranty which is an additional 3 years so that's worth a couple hundred aswell imo

Quick update. Had 7 quotes lol
Looking around 2400 fitted for vaillant 831 including thermostat. Magna filter, 9 rad valves and 7 year warranty. Plus I get 400 scrappage from goverment and 100 from vallant so 1900
happy days. Price ranged from 2000 upto 5000 eeek

I had a complete replacement heating system last year and claimed the £400 scrappage, but I was told the scheme was ending soon.
You should check that your plumber participates in the scheme - I had a cheaper quote from a small family run plumbing firm but they didn't participate and couldn't validate my voucher. Which was a shame 'cos I really liked the guy.
