Hi everybody my name is Dave I am from NSW Australia. I think I posted my first post in the wrong section ? being a newbie ,any way I am a proud new owner of a 2006/7 3.0 si 6 sp auto coupe 73,000kms I don`t know if anybody can help . I don`t know if there is a problem or not with the auto transmission. there seems to be a slight flare on the upshift from ist to sec in auto or manual mode all other changes are much sharper with no flare is this normal or do I have a problem.

Hi and welcome. Hopefully somebody can answer your question. Bing has just sold his auto so he might be able to assist.
 
Can u explain the flare a bit more - is it a jolt, judder, surge... ?

Though agree Bing will b the Auto authority
 
Disca has just bought an auto from having a manual so might be able to comment.

the actual flare sounds more audible, than felt through the car- no jolt or shudder feels like a very slight slip maybe 2 seconds duration, between 1st & sec up shift only" sounds like a musical moan" how`s that for a description ! thanks for your interest guys

Flare I didn't understand, 'musical moan' I do - I used to get that very occasionally, not sure it lasted as long as two secs though. I never got a explanation from my local garage, but they were not concerned by it and I didn't ever have any issues with the car so just put it down to a quirk of the gearbox. I know that doesn't explain anything, but perhaps alleviates your worry.
