New Bilstein-B6's For My ///M

I have just over 85,000 mile on my 2007 M Roadster and decided it was time for new shocks. I did not want anything that would change the ride height so went with Bilstein-B6 shocks all a round. They claim to be 20% stiffer than stock with no change in ride height. They will be installed this week.

Rears use OEM bump stops
Fronts have them built in.

I fitted these to my M a few months ago to go with my Eibach springs. Can get them all done in half a day.

They don't make B8's for the M so you won't be fitting them!!

B6's from what I was told.

They are less crashy but slightly firmer than the stock stuff, handles really well.
I also changed a lot of bushes which improved things too.

They are installed and I have been driving on them for almost 2 weeks. It a firmer ride than stock but not uncomfortable and there is an improvement in handling. My expectation were low as I simply wanted to replace the stock shocks without lowering. The local BMW dealer wanted about $2,000 for parts and labor to replace with stock BMW shocks. Going with the B6's and a local independent save me a pile of money so all I was look for was to be a good as stock but it's a nice improvement. Also a number of bushings including the control arms were replace as well.

Actually it takes large bumps like potholes a lot better but I try to avoid them as much as possible.

Insurance is not the issue in the US as it is in the UK. Likely if I was in an accident and the suspension was damaged the repair would be estimated with OEM BMW parts. I would be free to work with the vendor to use non-OEM parts if I wanted to.

Little update after a 90 mile road trip and a few miles on the new shocks. I drove up the PA Turnpike yesterday for a trip of about 90 miles total. There are sections of the turnpike that are really bad especially where they are preparing the turnpike for re-pavement. HUGE improvement over the OEM shocks that were replaced which had 85,000 miles on them. I suspect that the Bilstein-B6 kit that I had installed is as good or most likely even better than the stock M setup. In any event I am very please with the replacement and would recommend it to anyone looking to just replace their M shocks without effecting ride height. Total cost was about 60% of what the BMW dealer wanted. You do need to shop around for the B-6 kit as I got a quotes that were over $200 apart.
