New beast

I’ve always wanted a replacement for the z4m.. the Boxster came close but it’s a very different animal..

But took an F type S for a ride and found it to be the closest I’ve come so far..snarly, not as well handling traditionally as it’s counterparts but a long bonnet, tasty motor with more clout compared to the Z and a similar weight distribution and minimal compromise approach (storage is atrocious but who buys a sports car for practicality)

Came very close to pulling the trigger but figured it would be a bit too close to the Boxster to make sense and I couldn’t get over the fact that the R wasn’t available on rag top - even if they do things in a very different way. But then I remembered my criteria, something pseudo exotic, powerful and fast.

The upshot is I put a deposit on this beast. I forgot how many lateral Gs they could carry. It’s modified to 670hp because Godzilla and it sounds mental with a miltek exhaust.

Life feels incredibly slow until she arrives and it feels overkill on the road lapping up some twisty roads for sport. All being well should have her in a week 😁

Oooof very nice! Tempted by one next myself, but the running costs are terrifying! Be cheaper chucking money at an R8 or the like. They do have bags of road presence though, and are pretty undoubtedly the fastest point to point car you can get without being a millionaire.

Good god 670 horses :o  :driving:
Bet you cant wait - post more pics of the animal when you take delivery

Wow - that should redefine the meaning of "quick" for you!

Beast was just the right word!

cheers all, I'm v excited, feel like a little schoolboy again in a different way to ever before!

Will go more in depth when she arrives but a taster for now , It's rocking a version of the Litchfield stage 4.5 upgrade -

switchable mapping with boost control, Miltek downpipes and exhaust, larger intakes, turbos injectors, intake and intercooler, and the power curve looks something like this:

STAGE45a_wide-2000x881-500x220@2x.png

On paper, it should be producing the M3's peak power by the time it hits around 3,500 rpm.

Have been told to expect about 10 days to ship across country.

Just enough time for me to have a chat with the tuners in the UK and understand the capabilities of their remote tuning setup, and day dream about the 0-60 time which I'm told is in the ballpark of 2.3 seconds down 0.5 seconds from the stock 550bhp. But when most of the freeways around the city have a speed limit of 62mph - that could be problematic

Can't wait to have a burn on the road and then on the track

3 more sleeps.... we’re chomping for pics & a review... so don’t keep it 100% to yourself otherwise :worthless:

Had the pleasure of driving a standard GTR round a local racetrack here in NZ with a couple of professional race driver’s. The standard car was just awesome and the technology set up almost does all the work - could feel trouble brewing halfway through a corner - bit more throttle - power diverted to the grippiest wheels and safely accelerating down the straight ready for the next corner - amazing vehicles.

Hard to imagine the capability of your car, be a great experience, enjoy. :driving:

Can't wait, like you I've driven a standard one around the track (preceded by an R8, followed by an aventador) and it wasn't until you really started to push on where you access the sort of technicalities that you experience much sooner in a more analogue car. It was difficult to make it want to hurt you. The aventador had a similar feel but with a savage kick in the back of the head when you opened her up, so while this won't have the soundtrack of the v12 (although it does have a v nice remus exhaust); it'd expect the performance to be (somewhat) similar

Hehe She’s now booked on an enclosed trailer to come 4,000 kms across the country.

Drove the same route in the Boxster last month, didn’t fancy it again so soon! Plust I'd have to service it, pay for the PPF instead of doing it myself when it arrives and then service it when it arrives

It’s be three agonising weeks but in the meantime a taste:
