New Audi TT RS

Do love the sound of the 5pot audi motor and some cool tech touches, but not a huge fan of the new tt shape, the mk1 is still cool. It's probably because there's too many TTs on the road to make it really special.
If they did a TT shootingbrake I'd probably be in for that :)

Nope, they are still a pushover :poke:

Really? 394bhp 0-62 3.7sec :)

Maybe Nanu has had a bit of mapping done............?

Nope it depends which magazine and stats you read for the performance figures. 0 - 62 can vary from 4.5 to 4.8 for the same model. Even the bhp varies from the 394 quoted down to 345 the same as the 35is which can also vary from 4.6 to 4.8.

All I know is a mate swapped his 3.4 Boxter for the Audi TTRS and wished he hadn't, even more so after a drive in mine. :poke:

I've tried my hardest to like tts but I think I'm the only person who finds them ugly , all of them .
No you're not :D

You are not Alone.

I respect them as functional cars but, have never understood the styling. :tumbleweed:

I had a s4 twin turbo I modded and it was properly quick , but ultimately a bit boring , it caused major problems for most Porsches around the ring but it was a bit , well just fast , nothing else .
It had Porsche brakes , coilovers , thicker roll bars and plenty of power and even more torque but as you say , functional .

The orange peel in the paint @ 4:33 is shocking...

Mike

I think alot of makes suffer from orange peel in the paint these days, just the rubbish water based paint and process, new BMWs can be quite shocking, the alloys on my M140 as with the previous M135 have the minimum amount of paint dusting on the inner surface and door to wing internal shuts :(

I have a good friend who had some very fast B5's. A 430bhp S4 and then a 560 bhp RS4. I drove the RS4 ar Pro drives old test center on a driver training day. A mighty thing, demolished a V10 M5 on the main circuit. But to be honest my FWD Fiat Coupe, with less than half the horses, was actually more fun and sounded better. :driving:

Looks that way - I flicked through Autocar today and they said 394bhp. Mind you they also seemed to regard it as another straight line special, with corners making it the usual Audi understeery mess with porridge handling!

I'd rather have a V8 Mustang and more than £10K change - at least you get some character! (Not that I am in the market for either right now)!

I really like this. Got me having naughty thoughts about a Mk2 RS if I'm honest.
I had exactly the same thoughts as you a few months ago so took a mk11 RS for a test drive. The engine is epic, sounds wonderful with loads of torque and not too much lag. Petrol consumption and road tax are reasonable too which is also a consideration of mine as it's my only car.
What put me off was the low speed steering feel, it goes all light and feels very vague. Also the gear change feels rubbery and is just uninspiring to use and the clutch didn't seem aggressive enough for a car like that. It was like pootling around in an A3 diesel at low speed when I think a car like that has to be taught at any speed. The control weights just didn't match the cars looks or engine. Shame as I would have been tempted.

Having driven a (2.0 TFSI) TT earlier in the year I can completely relate to the control weight issue. It all seemed very easy, no more effort than say a Polo or Golf. Can't say I didn't prefer the gearchange, though. BMW manuals leave a lot to be desired.

I'm sure the engine is the selling point of the RS!
