New Audi TT Advert

In the past 2 weeks i have driven an e92 m3 and an mk2 tts. Both with dct/ dsg boxes.

I dont plan to track my car, just want a nice looking car to commute it.

Controversial but Imo the tts would get me from A to B faster then the M3, simply because i wouldnt care about avoiding pot holes (as the ride was more compliant on real roads with holes) and the characteristics of the turbo 4 means its 0-40 without reving the socks off it is prob quicker (certainly felt that way)

I'm off to test drive a 235 next week... But i have come to realise as much as i like the idea of a driving machine, I am no hamilton, will never track it, and i do just want a point and shoot car... Which is what Audi do quite well... Boring yes, but i would say thats what the majority are after :)

Lets face it though, the M135i/M235i aren't exactly lookers are they!

....and Audi's have nicer interiors :poke:

Swmbo doesn't like them!

It was on the list to replace her current car but its a NO from her!

I think she took a dislike when a sales whalla showed her a grubby black tt coupe a while ago.

We ran a E92 M3(manual) and TTS(dsg) together for a while and I whole heartedly agree and as a daily driver the TTS is more rewarding for more of the time and far more usable than the M3, on an empty back road with zero traffic the M3 does come good if you ignore the speed limits though! :driving:

I love the interior in this new TT. For me though the exterior hasn't come on enough. They're trying to do Porsche heritage in a runabout and they really (imho) should have done a bit more to the outside. I'll reserve judgement on how good a car it is until I've driven one.

Nice to see they've done a Z4 and left the unused passenger belt buckle to clatter against the plastics.... How do they manage to miss this every single time?

Agreed the interior is mindblowingly nice and Audis have always had that edge!

@Original Guvnor - The 35i series 1 and 2 cars are a serious bargain cars when you put them up against Audis.
@lux - 2 series is nice come - give it that - 1 series = van
@LeeZ4MR - Nice comparison thanks for sharing

My take on this:

Audis - People who want look cool, are cool live in Clapham, want Function over Drive ability
BMWs - People who want a drivers car sometimes Bankers
Mercedes (sorry had to get this one in) - Old folk who think C200 AMG is a sports car

*disclaimer - My take does not reflect the views on the Z4-Forum and is entirely an opinion and does not mean to cause offence

@LeeZ4MR thats one beautiful driveway... Maybe of the wife had gone for the 3 series that i wanted her to get (instead of her slk) i could have had a poor mans version of your driveway

I love it, the car that is, me want the convertible, with Quattro and DSG, sport trim so I can have the brown leather, though the M235i convertible is very tempting too.

I think the TT is way nicer looking (Certainly on the inside) that the 2 series. I'd go with your spec too!

It's got to be Quattro!

Nah, not if you want to enjoy a nice slide now and then. Sure FWD isn't great for fun but at least you can still get the back out easily. 4WD is for the weak ;)

(or farmers)

If got Rwd, 4wd and Quattro ! - not a farmer :D

Remember, If you're sideways you're not going forwards.

lol

Going forwards isn't that much fun tho... that just gets you there and the important bit is getting there in style ;) lots of cars do getting there well. Sideways however is always guaranteed to bring a smile to your face (perhaps not your passengers tho).

Ah but with the new Quattro system on the TT you can adjust the bias to the rear :D

and yes Maniac, I love the brown leather seats, the look so comfortable

As far as I'm concerned the M235i convertible only has two advantages, a 6 cylinder engine and 4 seats, yes it's going to be a more involved and fun drive but I'm too much of a scaredy cat to get close to the limit of either cars handling, I want acceleration :D
