New and looking for z4m coupe

Hi,

After considering many options (m135i, sl55amg, tt rs etc) I'm the look out for a nice z4m coupe.

Anyone selling and all advice gratefully received!

Thanks.

Buy the best one you can find, condition/miles etc. Assuming its stock, try and factor 1000 into the budget for mild mods once you've got it. The stock car really benefits from small tweaks, which will unlock its potential. Also history is absolutely vital with this engine so wait for the right one to come along and don't rush into a quick buy. A current / ex-forum car would be best.

Thanks pHillio.

Any vanos issues with the s54, many owners reported vanos issues with the s62 v8 when I had an e39 m5?

That was my concern when I upgraded, but doesn't seem to be an issue. Cam followers and bearing shells seem to be the flavour of the day. No rhym or reason though so some of it seems down to luck.

Welcome aboard, not heard much on the Vanos front on here in 5 years. They do all rattle a little bit, but not a big issue for most.

Yep, got burnt by that at 85k miles. Was much $$$ to repair. But most ppl on the forum haven't had this nightmare so don't be too freaked out. Its just luck of the draw. If you have had an M before you know how costly they can be, quickly, and also how some ppl have relatively few costly issues. So eyes open, a Z4M with a fund for the unpredictable problems and you will be just fine.
