New Alloys Journey

I'm sorry to say but the originals give your car a far better look an stance. The new wheels seem to make ur car stand more upright rather than low slung. Just my opinion, sorry

I would have kept the original 19s and fitted standard rubber and then you would probably find the alloys won't crack. The E89 always seems sensitive to fussy wheel designs with multispokes for some reason :(

Tim.

I like the original look on yours, but then I prefer the 224s to the CSL on mine. I'm a bit odd :)

Think the csl's look great, maybe could do with 12mm spacers to fill the rears. What about a warranty claime on the 326 ?

Thanks for the spacers on the rear suggestion. I tried and failed. Vines of Guildford & BMW UK both refused because "they do not have known manufacturing defect" despite all the evidence I sent them of forum members having their 326 alloys replaced FOC. :(

Fling a set of 19inch M4 reps with black inners on your car OP & you will soon forget the 326s & the CSLs
You can switch the tyres off the CSLs

Whatever BMW wheels you put on it, sooner or later someone will come round a corner with the same wheels as you on the same car as you in the same colour as yours. And then you will realise that you weren't so individual after all. lol There are so many beautiful styles and sizes of after sales rims and tyres out there, I really can't understand why people seem to have an obsession with standard issue. Especially to the point of knowing the numbers etc of all the different wheels BMW make lol It gives me the feeling that most of the members on here are in love more with BMW and maybe not their "individual" cars.

A bit like trainspotting, where they know all the numbers and what the train is, but they don't allow their imagination to see the work of art that it is and what it could become. It's just a list of numbers and technical details, rather than a Picasso or a Rembrandt.
My Dad once told me "If you like speed and you can appreciate art, then the car you should have should reflect not only your needs, but also your personality and your imagination wherever possible".
That's always been my view of cars, but I guess it's a matter of individual choice and tastes.

I think the M4 reps suited your E89 but not convinced on black. Thanks again for your help & suggestion though.

I love the CSL's wheels but i prefered them in the brighter original finish, i think i would have sprayed the mirror cappings to match the wheels rather than the other way round, but thats just me.
Whichever way you still have a wonderful looking Zed
Mike

I've always thought E89s needed 19" wheels, something about the more rounded rear end that benefits aesthetically from larger wheels. (Beautiful Zed nevertheless  )

Cheers Marlon :) . Yep agreed re: 19's. I considered going to 18's as I like the 224's but have decided against these for the exact reasons you mentioned.

I am going to check out the M4 reps in the flesh as suggested by Andy but will most probably end up selling the cracked 326 + freshley painted CSL's and bite the bullet of buying a replacement rear 326 for £585 :o. Hopefully no more cracks will appear from fitting the non runflat rubber.

I've only just bought my e89 which is on 326's and was curious about CSL wheels on it (as like everyone else, I think they're a lovely wheel!) but sorry, there's something just not right about them on the e89!

What about the competition spec e92 M3 wheels / 1M wheels?

I would of thought anything from BBS would look lovely.

Other than that you're starting to talk big ££££'s in the concave 19's range.

3SDM used to sell some nice concave 1M style wheels. Might be worth a look.

Personally I think the 326's are perfect and they'll be staying on mine. They were the main thing that stopped me in my tracks whilst scrolling through autotrader!

I love these veemans

I feel for you - I'm going through this same pain at the moment and just can't make a decision (on an E85 though).
I've been asking Mr Wilks for tyre/wheel setups to try and get things right, but there's just too much choice and I don't know what I want.
I have to agree with others that the 326's on your car look the business, but the CSL's just don't seem to do it for the E89 for some reason (sorry). The wheels on kinger's E89 (post above mine) look pretty good IMHO...

I love the 326's on an E89 and I'm afraid I'm not a fan of the CSL's on yours Wrs. I took the RF's off mine as soon as I bought it and the new rubber is so much kinder to the wheels (and my back). I know any alloy can crack but I think if I get one now it will be bad luck and not because they're 326's

Mike

They are nice & do have a OEM look about them
A member has fitted them to his DSB E89 & they looked mighty fine
