New alloy wheel choice

I've now decided that I need to replace the 108s on my 2007 z4 3.0is roadster due to problems with splitting them to get refurbished (see my previous post "Wheel refurb").

I've also decided to go with German, UK or Italian made wheels rather than go with the Chinese or Taiwan made replicas and have found the following reasonably priced wheels at around the same cost as the Chinese and Taiwan made wheels:

1. Alutec V silver in size 18 x 8.5 https://www.performancealloys.com/wheel-details.aspx?ID=1942
2. Alutec X10 polar silver in size 18 x 8.5 https://www.performancealloys.com/wheel-details.aspx?ID=5617
3. Alutec grip polar silver in size 18 x 8 https://www.performancealloys.com/wheel-details.aspx?ID=2126
4. Alutec E silver in size 18 x 8.5 https://www.performancealloys.com/wheel-details.aspx?ID=1939
5. Dezent RE silver in size 18 x 8 https://www.performancealloys.com/wheel-details.aspx?ID=1275
6. Dezant TB silver in size 18 x 8 https://www.performancealloys.com/wheel-details.aspx?ID=3246
7. Dezent TE silver in size 18 x 8.5 https://www.performancealloys.com/wheel-details.aspx?ID=3243
8. CMS C14 racing silver in size 18 x 8 https://www.performancealloys.com/wheel-details.aspx?ID=3286
9. NIU M matt silver in size 18 x 8 to front and 18 x 9 rear https://www.performancealloys.com/wheel-details.aspx?ID=5049
10. NIU Bayen silver n size 18 x 8 to front and 18 x 9 rear https://www.performancealloys.com/wheel-details.aspx?ID=6198
11. Momo Rush hyper silver in size 18 x 8 https://www.performancealloys.com/wheel-details.aspx?ID=3345

My current wheels are 18 x 8 at front and 18 x 8.5 at rear - the problem with the above wheels is that other than the NIU made wheels they do not come in staggered sets so its either a narrower wheel at the rear or a wider wheel at the front. My preference would be for the wider wheel at the front but could that cause fouling on the wheel arch?

Anyway opinions invited on the above wheels and the best size to go for .................

Why would you want wider front wheels ?

Because apart from the NIU wheels the other option is narrower rear wheels! - Are you saying this would be the better option?

Ok , thought you meant you wanted a wider front wheel than rear
Wouldn't worry on them being the same width either 8 or 8.5 j & still fit staggered width tyres if you want to
If you handle a set of 108s for example with tyres off its not easy to spot which is the front & which is the rear :?

So with 8J or 8.5J rims I could keep the existing staggered width tyres 225 x 40 at the front and 245 x 35 at the rear. I was thinking that 245 tyres would be a bit 'stretched' on 8J rims? Maybe better to go for 8J rims with 225 x 40 at the front and 235 x 35 at the rear or 8.5J with 235 x 40 at the front and 245 x 35 at the rear? :?

I noticed one of the wheels you listed offer both 8" and 8.5" in the same style maybe this may solve your dilemma.

I will still be selling my staggered 293's with a total refurb puts them in the same price brkt .Just a thought if you are in the Bracknell area your not far away to meetup and view.

Baza, Thanks for the offer but I've decided to buy new German or Italian made wheels - good luck with selling yours

No Problem Big choice out there . look forward to your post when you decide.

After much deliberation have decided to go for these in matt silver 8J x 18 to front and 9J x 18 to rear. http://www.niuwheels.it/niu-m

Was thinking of black but don't think black wheels on a black car goes (personal opinion only).

Cost for the 4 wheels is under £500 delivered, which I believe is good value for quality Italian made wheel.

Will fit Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetrical 2 tyres, 225 x 40 R18Y to front and 255 x 35 R18Y to the rear (unless any one recommends a different size?)

Good choice or not?
