New air filter for a bit more noise!

Hi everyone

What's the current thinking on panel filters and cold air induction filters?

I've modded the foam on my noise generator but want a bit more induction noise, but not a crazy amount.

Have has kn induction kits on cars before and i have a feeling it might be a bit much/chavvy on the z4, but wonder if a new panel filter would actually generate any more noise?

Kn / green / pipercross etc? Anyone got any experience?

Thanks

Don't see how a panel filter would produce anymore noise, it's the box which restricts induction noise not the filter. Any change in sound would be barely noticeable or more likely a placebo. I don't think induction kits are chavvy if they're a proper one and not just an open air filter sitting in the middle of the engine bay which will pull in a load of hot air.

Personally induction kits for our cars are far too expensive for the gains (AFe, Gruppe M) unless you've got an /M in which case I would probably splash out.

Happen to run the K&N panel filter on mine and not a jot of difference between it and a decent paper filter.
Wouldn't waste your time or money on one.

I only have it still on because I never get around to swapping it out and I need to re-oil my Jeep filters from time to time so this gets done too.
