hey everyone,

I hope you are well?

I seen last night some sneak pics of the new 2 series coupe. I like the fact the tail lights are different from the current 1, 2 GC, 3 & Z4 etc. Also the grille is a more traditional size!

What do you all think of it?

Cheers for the video! Amazes me that these shots always sneak their way out somehow.

I think that looks pretty cool. It looks a bit chunky and not sleek, but then following on from the new 1, I guess that’s to be expected.

It’s good news that it’s retaining RWD though! Seems it’s a fair way off a 1 series with a boot now, they seem to be distancing the 1 and the 2 now which is a shame.

BMW official release states FWD. How come this guy thinks its RWD.

Regular 2 series is a 4 door saloon and is based on the 1 series so is fwd. The 2 series coupe is not based on the same platform, so is retaining rwd.

So the 2series is built on two different platforms. :? How is that going to get past the accountants?

Happy if it's true just seems unusual. :)

Interesting as this all differs. The release I watched actually had the Marketing Design Engineer showing the Coupe. He even got in the back and stated how much extra leg room is in the back due to no drive shot tunnel

I thought the 2 series was a coupe as standard as it replaced the 1 series coupe? The 2 series gran coupe is the 4 door which is the latest abomination from BMW.

I know they have the hideous active tourer but that came after the coupe.

The Gran Coupe is basically the new 1 series with a boot. The 2 door coupe will remain RWD - see here;

"The G42 generation will be developed on a shortened version of the rear-driven Cluster Architecture (CLAR) that also underpins the upcoming G22/G23/G26 4 Series lineup. Essentially, the future 2 Series Coupe will become the sole compact-sized BMW model to feature a RWD chassis."

This was the point I was trying to make:

The 'regular' 2 series has always been a coupe. The rest have just been shunted under the name 2 series.

BMW leak them on purpose.

It looks disgusting in my opinion.
