New 1 Series

Due to hit the salesrooms soon, my dealer has been onto me already

The only reason I went with the 140i was it's comparative uniqueness in the hatch market. All that has gone now so no rear drive or 6 cyl, only plus I can see is LSD as standard. The new M135i is down on power by some margin but at least it will be winter friendly with AWD. A real shame.

It does look like a Ford, Kia, Hyundai though

I can't help thinking these cars with complicated electronics and TFT screens will be MOT fail magnets once out of warranty, lack of software updates etc and will cost a fortune to maintain.

That is truly fugly  & fwd too :( bog spec car £24k start :o

All I can see is lowered 2 Series Tourer  plus I don't know why BMW are going down the enlarged kidney grill route, I'm guessing it's brand identity as the rest of the cars are starting to look generic.

Theyve been out on the road for a while now over here in Holland.
Truly hideous-looking little snotboxes imo.
I had to walk round the front of it when i first saw it, just to confirm that it was actually a bimmer!

Been on the cards for a while but styling is truly questionable . I guess fwd is the future for their smaller cars and too be fair VAG do a good job of it but it loses the ultimate driving machine moniker.

I don't see any real advantages of buying one over a Golf GTI these days unless its an incredible drive which I'm doubtful.

:o BMW realy have lost the plot on the front end of there new cars. Fugly doesn't do it justice. Much worse than that.

Well the front is hideous, and the rest of it looks a lot like an A-Class - not that it matters to me as I like my BMWs to have a straight 6 petrol engine, a manual gearbox and RWD!

Way too bland styling and not a proper BMW with fwd. they have too many cars now- watering down the brand identity.

Like all current BMWs it is butt-ugly  However, according to Autocar the M135i will be AWD and have 302hp !

So glad I bought an M140i and didn’t wait for the new one. It looks awful and generic and that grill... and they’ve said already that the M135 is slower than the car it’s replacing... 90% of buyers won’t care though.

I do like the interior though which is a big step up and more in keeping with the higher up the range models. If only they had kept the 6 cyl :(

The only thing I know is BMW will have ensured it handles much better than the outgoing model which always had a black mark against it, but then when was tail happiness not fun :)

Tim.

Well to be fair BMW do know how to make a FWD car handle well - Mrs Tidy had an R50 Mini One followed by an R56 Cooper and they were great to drive.

I just like RWD!

As above not good BMW are producing some terrible looking cars these days and I really don't like the Xmas Cracker Moustache front grills on the new 3 series

I’ll keep my e87 thank u very much.

Whilst I know the M140i is not everyones cup of tea, I ran one as my daily for 18 months and the 6 cylinder engine is sweet, incredibly responsive and surprised quite a few people.
