So my daughter is fed up of having 1 key so we went to BMW and ordered a new one. Got 20% discount and told that's the key, blade and it's all coded to the car.

Returned yesterday and collected it. Parts said we'll set the key for you. Long story but they couldn't make it work.
Master tech tell them says key is 'locked' and costs £50
Service Depart after lying low for 10 minutes and much discussion in the background turn up and say needs booking in as the key is locked £50 charge.
Bit of a tense discussion as advised I've paid for a fully working and coded key. Eventually they agree to bill the cost internally - all good.

Curious as to why 'locked' so they advise keys are locked when they are stolen, usually at the request of owner. Odd I point out as for 4 years we've been driving the car to which they said it's not possible. Really as we point to the car outside...

Well next week we shall see the next instalment as it goes in to be fixed and what more assorted garbage they tell customers to justify rip off extra charges.

when you code a key on an old Z4, you can add keys and then you can block old keys... there is the list of how many of the ten keys have been used - for example when I coded my second key I found that there had been 3 old keys which I then blocked. One assumes its something similar to this that has occurred.

Oh dear, I've just bought a F20 1 series and sure enough need another key for it. May I ask what you were quoted?

Good luck, look forward to the next installment of deceit!

Don't have the invoice to hand, but around £165
Discounted to £130
