Never really thought about this until today

Doesn't using the required amount of screen wash chemicals prevent anything nasty establishing itself in the washer fluid?

Just checked mine, and it smelt horrible. Minute or two to get out. Clean with medium wheel woolie and flush through thoroughly. Refitted and filled up. 10-15 minutes job.

Thanks for the reminder Daz

According to an advanced driving instructor who does courses for the company I work for, that's one of the reasons you add screen wash chemicals, to stop legionella type bugs from breeding.

Yes Steve, it's having an engine out restoration over the winter, I say restoration when I fact it'll be more of a down to the metal respray, stripped and glass out, it was rebuilt in 2011/12 but the paintwork isn't quite right, it looks fizzy close up and although the engine and box were stripped at the same time they never painted the engine bay for some reason so that's original, I've cleaned it up quite well but if the outsides being done again then I may as well get the engine bay done too

Who's doing the respray Darren? My MR2 needs a strip down and paint.

A guy called Terry Loffley in a small mining town near me, he sprayed my friends Ferarri and the F.O.C refused to believe it had been repainted, I saw a MK2 RS 2000 he'd done last year and the underneath was better than new never mind the top, you have to book well in advance John but it's worth it, I'll introduce you if you like, we'll get a pint too

Top man is Terry.
He did all my bike body panels.
I used to kill cows and sheep in his workshop

Must check mine. Cleaned it 5 years ago when I got the car, but like you never use much.

Thats one serious looking Mk2
Always liked the Mk2 MR2  Whats the story behind that one - obviously heavily modified, how was the performance?

I bought it as a standard N/A Uk car but then had a Turbo engine fitted. All the body kit I did myself, had my own business making MR2 kits. They are a quick car but can be tail happy in the wrong hands.
My car (the one in the pic) ended up in Sweden.

I must admit, when I'm on my motorbike and the car I'm following sprays his windscreen (and me), I hope that he has some chemical in there to prevent me being infected by festering fluids. :o

It's a MK2 REV5 Russ, UK car with air con so it's quite rare as it was usually only the import only available turbo cars that had air. Tbh it was fairly mint until a so called 'detailer' had it in for a detail and to paint the front bumper and bonnet, he burn't through the paint on the rear wings, did'nt tell me, painted the whole car bar the roof and made what can only be described as the mother of all screw ups of it. Fish eyes, dust, runs, blobs of paint next to the worst masking up you've ever seen, you would'nt believe how bad it is unless you saw it. Then the prick took me to court for non payment..!!! I won in a counter claim but the damage is done, it's my 6th MR2 and i can't sell it in the state it's in, nor do I want to, so it sits un-loved, un-used, and looking a mess. It needs rescuing before it starts rotting to dust.
