I have this net hanging lose in my boot at the back, does anyone know what it is and should it be lose or fixed somewhere?
It's a new car by the way to just getting to grips with it all..

It’s supposed to be attached to the panel you pull forward and lock in to allow the roof to drop.

I thought it was for the American market to restrain the bodies in the boot? :P

I had the roof down ok today, where exactly does this need to be locked into and I will have a go tomorrow.

I think post an overall image of your boot? With the latch up or down seeing as im pretty confused as to whats going on with your boot to be honest :D

hang on a moment you've got an e89 with no boot latch to allow the roof to open ? :( :o

It maybe already pulled out & the pics taken underneath it i thought?

Surely that cant be right because the net would then have to had the roof latch attached to it which in this case doesnt seem to be the case. To me it looks like the roof hatch is completely missing and theres a net i dont know i think more photos of the overall boot with the hatch locked in place and back

Ok so the netting is attached to the panel that you pull forward to enable the roof to be opended.
However, the other end of the netting with the fixtures is not attached anywhere.
I can see where they would be affixed but when I pull out the plastic stops and try and fix the bracket into the holes in the back of the car the plastic stops are not long enough....
I hope this makes sense and I hope I am trying to do the correct thing here....

Net was introduced on later cars. It’s supposed to stretch between the bulkhead and the pull down cover to stop objects in the space between from interfering with roof operation. You can safely remove it if you wish or attempt to reattach it to the bulkhead.

Brilliant, I want to try and re-attach but the plastic plugs that go into the holes in the bulkhead are not long enough, where can I find the correct size have you any idea?
