We had a Delonghi semi automatic (bit like a DCT) version for the last 7 years…after 3 overhauls and over 2,700 cappuccino’s later it was not making temp so this Christmas we treated ourselves to a full manual job..

It’s got lots of options like variable pre impregnate time, variable grind size, variable dose size and variable main water temp..

Not being used to a manual took a bit of time..

But…

It makes the best coffee we ever tasted by some way..

Was it not available in yellow?

When are you fitting the bigger Turbos and having it remapped?

Fastest coffees in the uk

They do some of their machines in yellow but amazingly our kitchen has touches of blue / green in it…

I did know a guy with a built in machine who had his pressure boosted from 15 bar to 20 bar… :tumbleweed:

Sadly TIS doesn’t document these machines and I can’t find an app to reflash it..

Just have to live with the masses….

20 Bar, hmmm…. I’m thinking that the parts from a Karcher pressure washer (other brands are available) could be adapted to supply hot water at circa 120 Bar and many litres per minute.

My ‘Back to the future’ brain is convincing me that this would produce coffee so fast that time would move backwards :winner:

You need faster than Warp factor 9 to go back or forwards in time, Mr Scott

If you like or love coffee and drink it regularly then a bean to cup machine is the only way that's cost effective, even with an initial outlay. I have two Siemens machine, one at home and one at work, drinking around five cafe latte's per day, regular strength and I use just over 1 kg of Lavazza (an easy coffee you can drink anytime of the day) beans per week at £11.00 ish a bag, so about 150 cups a month which is 7.3p per cup compared to 45p per cup for Nespresso original. You can get a half decent automatic machine that froths milk etcetera for £400 which will pay for itself in under 10 months, obviously depending on how you like your coffee and the blend/origin. I bought my first bean to cup machine in 2007, it was a Jura and six months later I bought a second Jura for work, the first lasted 10 years and the second is still going strong at work.

A French press is borderline acceptable, but only if you have to make more than six cups at a time, else buy a proper Italian percolator, at least they know how to do it properly, and anyone who drinks instant coffee, is really a tea drinker or still lives in the 80's
Yep that's me, a nice cup of Nescafe with coffee whitener and sugar, goes down a treat. :poke:

I’m a coffee drinker, but I’d rather drink tea than instant coffee.

Have trusty old Bosch Tassimo, but thinking about a bean to cup machine… they’re not bloody cheap though

Mates I play poker with are the same, they won’t touch instant, rather have tea. I’m the total opposite, can’t drink made coffee, far too strong. I don’t stoop to mellow birds  but gold roast from the good manufacturers is all I’ll have, apart from a latte’ when out and about. Guess I’m just a bit of a sissy.

I like a coffee now and again, but it's Nescafe Cap Colombia Instant for me!

And I am mostly a tea drinker (Earl Grey ideally) but I really enjoyed the 1980s. I had far fewer grey hairs then.

Can't stand coffee. It's too bitter.

Tea (Yorkshire by Taylor's) and beer. Not at the same time, although I wouldn't rule it out.

Yorkshire tea where your spoon can stay straight up in it and your teeth fall out when you drink it? No thanks

Yes, they call that builder’s tea around here. Strong, sweet with a dash of milk. Very nice. Having been up to Lancaster a few times over the last four years I’ve found the coffee at Starbucks is too bitter for us southerners

You wouldn't know how to make a proper cup of tea. You can't do, you have to be British to make decent tea. Although I know many British people who can't make a cup of tea properly....it isn't difficult...and if done properly only takes an hour or two!

I’m a bean to cup fella!
The old De Longhi has gone on the blink again so looking for a suitable replacement- any ideas ?

I found the De Linghi repair system less than reliable so was considering a move to another manufacturer.

Remember my Nana having Camp coffee in the 70's
Made me think that's what Coffee tasted like.

Was not until the mid 80's before i tried Coffee again.

Do enjoy a Yorkshire tea now and then, especially with plain buttered toast :)

I've got one of these, its ok but have spent a small fortune buying pods and still haven't found one i really like  But still they all taste better than my grandmas Camp coffee with STERILIZED MILK! back when i was a lad. "DRINK IT LAD, THINK OF ALL THE STARVIN IN THE WORLD!!"
Then for dinner we would have bread and drippin!! Asking what was for supper, it was always the same reply, "SH!T WITH SUGAR ON"
I loved the 60's.

Same here, always remember going to my nans having homemade bread and butter pudding washed down with Camp coffee, I always thought it was cough mixture. My grandad it was Camp coffee with a Woodbine :)

Used to have Yorkshire but downgraded to PG.

Tim.

Up here in NE England we still have packs of tea delivered to the door by an old and established company of tea blenders. (Ringtons)

I’ve not heard of that anywhere else in the country?
