I've continued my dry January into February and no plans to have a drink. I suppose I could down a pint of some soft drink and do some aggressive yoga

The immediacy of current formats Phones/Facebook/Twitter drive these trends more strongly today.............and the media. They just 'lap' it up and pretend they have a moral conscience (not!)
We all did things when we were younger that we look back on as being "not clever". Some people got away with it...... some didn't.

Who says that what has to be in the bottle or glass has to be alcohol? You could get something that looks like a beer, some bass shandy for instance or water and pretend its vodka and they need never know. Suppose the issue then comes when people try to 'better' this and don't realise it wasn't actually anything as harmful as it was and consume a very deadly amount.
Still f'ing stupid and it's about time the younger folks out there grow a pair and stand up to their peers. Seems some have no issues having a go at older folks and thinking they are big, clever and hard but they daren't say anything to their mates incase they are seen as weird.
Attitudes have changed vastly over the past 5/7 years and not for the better. God I'm sounding old and I'm not even out my 20's yet!

To be honest, this is only a snip of what happens throughout the year every sept/Oct when it is freshers. Sports initiations and degree course initiations as I'm sure lots of you know. The fact that phones are getting so advanced just means all this stuff get shared SO easily. The media have picked up on initiations loads of times , I think a lot of unis avoid even using the term freshers to try prevent freshers binging - it will never change.

Indeed the rise of social media and camera phones has had a great deal to do with this but attitudes towards everything is changing but that's life. I'm sure when they age a few more years they will realise how silly something's are, we all love to reflect like that
