Neil's track build. (e36 & e46 content inside)

I have indeed, hence why I didn't make too much of a fuss that it was a 323i.

I think I'll probably keep the alpinas as a daily wheel (getting me to the track and back) and have my eye on a few track wheels (hopefully a nice set of 17x8 square will be purchased)

Regarding the m50, I will eventually fit it, but for the time being, I need to get the car as it is on the track and see what problems arise before potentially creating more in the future.

Also given that the m50 needs a tune to really get the best out of it, I rather get that all done when I've found a 328i exhaust as well.

For those following along, I've finally managed to get most of the jobs done on the car. The only thing left is the suspension (which I am now in several minds about which kit to get :( )

Until then, feel free to catch-up on the big update!

Another update.

Toyed around with the idea of 108's on there and I think (in a weird way) it works!

Finally got the suspension sorted.

Ended up going all stanceworks for a few hours while I was at it (I did later opt for a more sensible ride height!)

The joys (and pains) of the install has been documented here: http://e36tracktoy.blogspot.com/2014/07/suspension.html

Thanks Inkey!

As much as I don't like 108's (Ban me! :P ) they're oddly growing on me for the e36.

So the suspension debacle is all done now (spacers and other missing bolts & sensors have been replaced).

The car is just begging for a maiden voyage now!

Not updated this in a long time!

Thought I'd share some pictures.

A set lighter than the softlines. Will end up running these tyres quite hard and then opting for a set of ns-2r's as per some good feedback posted by Beedub!

Oh, and I lowered the car again. I got a little fed up of seeing it so high.

Update!

Just under 300 miles covered since it passed MOT, it's up for sale and a replacement was sourced.

M54 powered, not in bad condition with the exception of the front wings, and some nice options that (in my opinion) were essentials.

Loved every minute with it, but the swap made economical sense.

For those that may be interested, the new build can be followed here

Looks good  Keep the updates coming.

Thanks, and as requested! :P

Thanks guys! Provisionally sold some bits so hopefully new parts are coming in soon!

But for now, more work being put in to the car...

Started off with removing the DISA valve to check its condition etc. No real idea if it's good or bad based on appearance, but it seems to be holding fine mechanically. (Thank's to Shipkiller's post!

A little grubby, but some carb cleaner sorted that out.

Next onto some TLC. The car was washed and clayed last week so a quick foam down meant I could start polishing. Owing to the state of it up close, it's going to need a machine on it, but I wanted to improve it before I get my hands on a DA.

And then another excuse to go drive it. The lack of a radio is starting to get a little irritating, especially given it's so quiet (even after the exhaust valve mod). Needs a new exhaust I think!
